becomingme430 reacted to Its_Kai in How did you calm your nerves before surgery? Thanks to everyone for the advice. I took in everything that was said. Surgery went well and now I'm home. The nurses on the Bariatric floor said I was their star patient. I was up and walking and doing laps as soon as I felt I could. I have a lot of pain in the incision site where they took my stomach and gallbladder out. I think if it was just vsg, I would be in little to no pain. But I'm home resting, walking and sipping water. Thanks everyone!

becomingme430 reacted to xoxococojay in Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?Yeah i don’t tell anyone. It’s not their business. Co workers don’t know because i’ve changed jobs since. It’s not shame or a secret it’s more like who cares? I don’t volunteer info about anything else in my life. Nor have i ever felt the need to announce that i was fat, so why announce that i’m not? If they as how i lost weight, i just say i watch what i eat which is very accurate and i workout a lot.
Some people believe in telling the world because it could help someone and what not, that’s their choice. I’m always willing to help in a support group format. I would never discuss anyone’s weight otherwise.
I also just don’t have time for nosy questions or judgement, it’s just freeing to be more private. -
In my head i’m always like wait...”are we losing weight or making a car payment lol”? -

becomingme430 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Surgery In 2.5 Weeks and I Haven't Told Husband Yet...Hey Girl, I've read your story and fully understand. My husband is similar in that he would be scared of something happening to me. So we would have a huge argument, and I'd go anyway feeling bad. However, my advice, not that you asked. Do Not tell him. I know the letter came and all that, he cant stop that part of it, but you should not go into surgery after a huge confrontation with him. Do yourself a favor and go through the surgery with happy thoughts.
My vsg date is April 30, 2019. I will not be telling my husband for just that reason. No arguments, pleasant procedure. It's all about Me! I wish you the best in whatever you decide.

becomingme430 reacted to KT1981 in A terrifying and hilarious NSVFirst, let me say that this week I got my first, "I didn't recognize you!" from a coworker I hadn't seen since before the surgery. (I could tell something was weird because she was acting oddly shady toward me during the first part of the meeting, and then suddenly became normal several minutes later. Must have been when she put 2 and 2 together.)
Anyway, on to the terrifying and hilarious NSV. So I'm walking rapidly down this long, empty hall at work and focused on the door all the way at the other end. I'm trying to take a quick bathroom break and I don't have a lot of time. I kinda glanced down to check my path ahead of me (since I'd previously been focused on the door and not watching where I was walking) and as I glanced down I suddenly saw something scurry around my feet. We've been known to have the occasional mouse in the building and I live in the midwest where it has been bitterly cold, which can push critters inside. Naturally, I freak out and do a little jig and start looking around, but I see nothing.
I'm not sticking around to meet a mouse if I don't have to, so I start power walking to the door/end of the hallway and I see it scurry by my feet AGAIN! Suddenly, before the panic set in, a realization set in and I test my theory by walking slowly at first, then faster. Yep. It's my own feet. I can now see my own feet when I walk because my stomach has shrunk in size. No mice. Just my own damn feet. ?

becomingme430 reacted to Fluffy Grandma in NSVShopping in regular sizes! My Mom wanted to go shopping at Dressbarn. I wasn’t really looking for anything as I have a mountain of clothes to go through first. While she was in the plus size side of the store, I figured I’d wander over to the “regular” side of the store. Great sales this week so what the heck! I found a really pretty crocheted top with 3/4 sleeves on clearance in an XL. I figured I’d fit in it soon anyway so I bought it. When I got home I decided to try it on and see how far I had to go before It fit. Holy krap, it fit!! I started pulling the XL’s out of my closet and most of them fit. That was two days ago and I’m still smiling. -

A thought for you
You should no longer cross oceans
For someone who wouldn't jump
puddles for you.
Stay strong, don't lose your commitment, you are going to do what needs to be done for You on February 5th. And I am proud to know you now.
