  1. Anna, I started out low, too, and am just amazed at everyone’s progress. I’ve lost about 44 lbs, but 13 of that was from preop diet. I’m losing super slow - I’m lucky if I hit 2 lbs per week. Plus I had a stall that lasted over a month! Start weight 200 Surgery date 2/13/19 Current weight 156
  2. Oh man! I’m definitely missing the taquerias. There’s nothing quite like South Texas breakfast tacos on a lazy Saturday morning.
  3. Med28thmed, you’re living in Corpus?! I grew up around there and lived in Corpus most of my adult life. We moved to Tulsa a few years ago.
  4. I’ve had beef fajitas, cooked on the grill. So tender, so yummy. Sat really well in my tummy.
  5. Oh no!! That must’ve been horrible! I don’t know if any of y’all have heard this, but my team gave me this info for times when food gets “stuck”.
  6. yes! I had a terrible taste in the back of my throat and horrible breath. At first I thought it was a sign of ketosis, but I read somewhere that it could be a sign of dehydration. So I upped my water intake, supplemented with some G2 Gatorade for electrolytes, and it magically went away. Of course, I can’t tell you for sure if the fluids helped or if it just went away over time. VSG 2/13/19
  7. It’s gonna be so worth it! I need to stock up on avocados. I want one of my first meals to be a soft boiled egg with a perfectly ripened avocado!
  8. I start on purées next week, too! All day long, I fantasize about all the things I’m going to have on day one!!
  9. Anyone else getting completely wiped out when taking a shower? I don’t know if it’s a blood pressure thing (I’m historically low bp due to hashimoto’s) or what, but I’m hoping it’ll improve once I’m on purées.
  10. Hey, everyone!! I had my surgery yesterday, and everything went rather smoothly!! I had my gallbladder taken out at the same time as my vsg. I have minimal pain, even without pain meds, and I have not vomited. I did get some nausea when I stood up for the first time last night, but it quickly passed. I have to pee every 45 mins, which is the pits!! It never feels like my bladder is completely emptied. I was nervous as heck before surgery and almost backed out, but I’m glad I didn’t!
  11. Yay, Courtney! Congratulations! How are you feeling? I hope you have a super speedy recovery!!
  12. 2bsmaller, I started at BMI 36 (BMI 34 now) and I still had to do a two week liquid diet. ?
  13. Yes, it sounds normal. Especially if you didn’t wean yourself off of caffeine prior. The headaches, dizziness, and weakness lasted about 4 days for me. It does get better, though, so hang in there!!
  14. It’s becoming very real!! Good luck to you guys! I hope everything goes smoothly and you have a super speedy recovery!!
  15. BTW: Chocolate Premier Protein heated up in the microwave for 1:30 is pretty darn good!!
  16. Taylor, I hope the same happens for me!! I could kill for just a scrambled egg!!
  17. Hey, Gotta. I started my multivitamin, iron, calcium, B12, and biotin two months ago. The all liquids has been pretty tough. Artificial sweeteners give me such terrible headaches. I usually take Advil for my headaches, but can’t have ibuprofen anymore. ? I guess a tip I could give is: try to take a nap when the uncontrollable hunger starts to creep in. I feel so guilty for retreating to the bedroom while my family has dinner, though!
  18. I’m on the 13th, too. I’m on 4th day of pre-op. I’m only allowed protein shakes, broth, sugar free jello, and sugar free popsicles. I’m dying!! ?
  19. Hey 2Bsmaller18! I read through some of your previous posts, and we seem to have a lot in common! I started at a BMI of 36, comorbidity of sleep apnea, and will be having vsg on 2/13/18. My doctor prescribed FusionPlus iron a few months ago, and I’m also taking Centrum Silver as my multivitamin, nascobal B12 nasal spray once a week, vitamin D3, and Calcium. I also started taking 6000 mcg of Biotin nightly a few months ago to help reduce hair loss post-op.
  20. @CeeCee2018, we share a surgery date! I started my pre-op diet today. I’m only allowed three protein shakes, one sugar free jello, and one sugar free popsicles per day! This is gonna be tough, but I’m looking forward to a jump start on my weight loss.
  21. Hi, ldawn! I start my liquid diet on 1/30/2019. Which protein are you using?
  22. Feb 13th here! I start my liquid diet on Jan 30. So excited/nervous!!
