Yes, it's pretty useless equipment after awhile. I had a hysterectomy . . . so instant menopause but it really wasn't that bad.

I remember when I lived in Oregon that I was climbing walls my mid-June. Summer comes soooo late. You'll have such a great time. Hey, your consult is the afternoon of my surgery! My surgery is at 1:30 MST, what time is your consult?

You deserve it! I was sad to read about your dad's behavior when you were young, but it's great that you were able to have a good relationship with him in the end. I am estranged from my mother and it haunts me - a lot.

Fatwidow, I'm sorry to have stirred up painful memories for you. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you to lose your husband. And it must have made it even harder to yearn to hear him tell you his feelings. I agree with dee - men have very different ways of handling things than do women. We crave comfort, support, kind words, etc. It's in our nature, and it is not in theirs. As for the out of control eating - I have been completely out of control since I scheduled my surgery. I know it's ridiculous, but I keep thinking "oh, I need to stuff my face with these chips now because I won't be able to later", etc. And then I feel horrible about it later. Pretty addictive behavior. But I think there are lots of people who have been in the same spot and seem to have made tremendous strides with the band. I mean, none of us are/were healthy eaters or we wouldn't have ended up so fat! It's not like everybody on this board was fit and trim and had great eating habits before their surgery. So I just keep telling myself that if they can do it, I can too. This is the bestest bunch of people ever. Be sure to come here often.

My dad just called and the said that his MRI today revealed that he has a small hip fracture, not a bone tumor!! This is such a good thing. He may end up needing surgery on his hip, but this is such a better thing than what they initially thought. WHEW!!!! Wow, our father's day just became a whole lot better! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Go to the friends and contacts tab under your user CP and add the screen names of people you want to add, then check "add as a friend" or something and it sends them an invite to be your friend!

Shelbi, that's such a great idea. I'm going to get to work on that right now. How lovely that you found it in your mom's treasures. When is your husband's procedure? Tuesday??

Hi Sidann. I'm glad to hear that your fill went well but sorry to hear about your traveling woes. That makes for a very long day. I'm also very sorry to hear about your uterine cancer and very happy to hear that it was caught early and cured. Wow, that had to be scary. Thanks for the kind words about my Dad. It will be a bittersweet father's day this year.

Hi Munchkin. Thanks for the kind words. I laughed when said you were worried about being an animal hoarder. My husband has a new rule at our house . . . if I bring home a new animal, I have to trade in two of our existing pets. I guess it's a good thing that he keeps me in check. Otherwise I'd probably have a donkey living in the back yard and an otter in the bathtub. Lap- good for you for using your time off to go walking about. Obviously I use mine to obsessively read this forum!!

Thanks for your support, everybody. And I agree about all the hotmammas!!! Damn everybody looks good! I have a sort of dumb question for you guys . . . I have an extra chin or three. What happens to them when you lose the weight? Am I going to end up with a pelican pouch? Has anybody else had this issue? Did your skin shrink? I think I'm quite a bit older than the rest of you though so your skin is probably quite a bit more elastic than mine.

Thanks dee. You must be such a wonderful, wise, and compassionate nurse. And you're right. He needs to handle this in is own way and I need to support him in however he chooses to handle it. I just don't want to see him in pain.

Thanks sweetums. I don't know what to say to my dad. He always has a smile on his face and is so positive and upbeat about things. I actually worry that he'll hang on too long BECAUSE of his optimistic nature, and end up suffering more than he should. I know that sounds weird, but there are times when too much optimism can be a liability.
