I understand the idea of a food funeral. I had the same feelings. I talked with a Lot of people who had the surgery and they said you DO get back to foods you want to eat. It's just a change that you will want a slide or 2 of pizza rather than the whole thing.

I'm 9 days out from surgery and the worse part so far was having a Catheter in the first day. I'm a guy so I know I'm a big baby.

Just sip a lot of liquids. Walk. It helps with boredom and helps to heal. I've cubes and sugar free popcicles are amazing the first few days.

    It’s not a food funeral.
Last thanksgiving I was on my liquid diet preparing for my surgery. This thanksgiving, I will be about two weeks away from one year post op.
You will eat turkey again. You will eat small amounts of other favorites like mashed potatoes or stuffing. You may even have a bit of pie for dessert. The idea that it will be the “last” time you eat something, well that’s false. It may be the last time you are physically able to eat a pound of food, but that’s a different story.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving but I guarantee next year you won’t believe your eyes!

Don't really consider,it a Food Funeral, consider it a Food Festival, some of your Old Friends are going on a holiday, if they don't return, it will be fine, you will make new ones. And at a later reunion you may wonder what you ever saw in them!???
