    20 Something’s?

Hi! Good luck with your surgery! I am scheduled for bypass on 2/13. What made you decide on the duodenal switch procedure? I had never even heard of it until one of my required life skills classes. I do not believe that my surgeon's office offers it so I am just curious about what it is.

I am also allowed to have jell-o and popsicles. I am planning to stop at the grocery store after work to pick some up. Do you have any recommendations on what kind to get?

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Hi everyone! It has been a rough few weeks. The surgeon's office set a surgery date for me, but then never submitted my file to insurance. After a lot of back and forth, things got submitted and officially approved. My surgery date is February 13th and I start the 2 week Robard diet today. For the first 12 days I have 3 shakes, 1 bar, and 1 soup. The last 2 days are 4 shakes and 1 bar. I am sure it's going to be a struggle, but I am going into it with a positive attitude.

Hello - New Member Here :)

Hello everyone! I haven't been on in a while because things have been a hot mess. I am very disappointed in my surgeon's office. It is a long story, but the short version is they never sent my file to insurance. A lot of work on my end trying to be the middle person to get things done because the surgeon's office dropped the ball. My surgery has been approved by insurance and the date is now February 13. I start the Robard diet today!
  9. Hello everyone! I am new to this website and wanted to introduce myself. I started the process for gastric sleeve surgery in September. After having an endoscopy done in early October, the surgeon discovered that I have Barrett esophagus. Due to this diagnosis, I am not able to have the sleeve surgery, and will instead have gastric bypass. If all goes according to plan, I will be having surgery mid to late January 2019. I did a lot of research about the sleeve, but am still learning about gastric bypass. I look forward to hearing about everyone's different experiences and learning more about weight loss surgery.
  10. Good morning everyone! I apologize if this has been asked before, but this is my first time in the post-op section. Last week I received my surgery date, February 6th (woohoo!), so I thought that I would head over to this section and start reading some posts. Anyway, this may be a weird question, but what did you guys do at home during your recovery period? I am planning to take about 3 weeks off at work and I am hoping that boredom won't get the best of me while I am at home! I know I will have to go for walks during the day. I bought a sudoku book and crossword book and also a couple puzzles to do, but i think that will only last me a few days. What did you guys do during your time off? Are there any recommendations for iPad apps or television shows to watch? I am just worried that I am going to be stuck at home by myself with nothing to do!
  11. Good advice! Thank you! I will definitely set an alarm to go walking. I know frequency is more important than distance, but is there a certain distance that I should be aiming for?
  12. This is good advice that I need! I am terrible with prime - I have already set some money aside that I am saving in case something sparks my eye while I am bored at home lol
  13. Nice! Any good shows that you can recommend?
  14. I am jealous that you can crochet! I have tried teaching myself several times and spent many hours, but I just can't get past the first row!
  15. Thank you! It sounds like you were super productive! There is definitely some cleaning/organizing I can do at home. I will check out that show, I have been looking for something new to watch. Glad to hear you felt better than anticipated, I am hoping for the same results! Thanks for your reply
  16. Thanks for your reply. My surgeon told me that I will not be able to drive for 2 weeks following surgery .. ugh! I meet with him this Thursday so maybe I should ask him again about the driving restriction.
