    Lost some fill...?...why?....

I totally hear you. I've also got a 15 year old, he's good about helping out with his sister. My husband used to work 3p-1a. It was peaceful. My weight started going up when he switched to days. Now he demands that supper be cooked every night and he wants us to snack on junk all late since he's home at night. Well, good for him, he's got great genes and a high metabolism. He keeps telling me that I'm not fat...personally I think he's scared for me to go back to my pre obesity weight because he thinks if I'm thin and feeling good about myself, I'll leave him. I won't, but I see where he'd feel that way, heck, I would. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  2. I haven't been to my local bariatric office for two years, but decided to tuck my tail and go back considering I've gained 30 lbs since I was there last. The nurse took the saline out of my band to make sure I had all 3 cc in my band that we had when I last saw her and she was only able to get 1 1/2 cc, then she had me stand to see if it was positional....she only got two total. SMH. She's trying to figure out if my band is leaking or if she miscalculated last time I was there. I really hope that she didn't take proper notes, I'll be devastated if my band is broken.

As long as there is no leakage, I haven't had any problems. I've been battling my weight everyday even after being banded. I had a baby in 9/10 and had to have my band empty. I did well for 2 years, then the weight tried to creep on, but I battled it and would get it back down, but the past couple of years, I've been losing the battle, so I had to go back. I have a 10cc band. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Not everyone who does adjustments has the same skill. Alternately, sometimes the port is at an angle and difficult to hit the first time. The lesser skill level will make that all the more problematic. The amount of saline in a band is irrelevant. What matters is having the amount that achieves the desired effect. Beyond that, one person's just-right 10cc will be another person's misery/overfill or not yet enough. Not everyone who does adjustments has the same skill. Not to mention that may work well today will be too much or two little in another month or so although the amount is unchanged. Yeah, I'm not concerned about the amount in the band, I just want to make sure the band isn't leaking and, over time, I want to get to MY personal sweet spot green zone. I didn't notice any extra restriction, no. I hope this is what happened, it sure sounds like it. If that's the case, then all 3cc should be there next month. Fingers crossed. Thank you for sharing with me, I feel a little better. But yes, it really hurt, like never before, and I soaked a gauze pad before she could get a bandaid on me. 8. I got my lapband in July 2008 when I was 30. I started out like a champion the weight came off at a nice steady pace, I lost 80 lbs in a year and my skin tightened as I went along. I was so proud of myself. I even had a baby 27 months after surgery and lost my baby weight immediately. After having my gallbladder out in January 2012, the weight started coming back on fairly rapidly. I had gained back 30 lbs by the summer of 2013 when I bought my house. As of this morning, according to the scale, I have gained back 36 lbs since surgery. I lost my will power when I started gaining weight in 2012. Since then I have gone back to sodas, sugar, carbs, etc...I KNOW I'm not getting the Protein I need each day. I haven't been able to exercise with the intensity I used to due to a knee injury that hurts most days, but the main reason for the weight gain is the lifestyle change I made during the pre and post op process is gone, I reverted back to bad habits over time. I am scared to death of my weight now and am desperate to lose weight and get back to where I was when I was at my lowest or lower. I'm wondering if I need to tuck my tail and go back to my surgeon, admit my habits, check to see if everything inside of me is as it should be, get an adjustment, see the dietician, and suffer through the "one cup" rule until I am back in the habit. Easier said than done and expensive for the appts, but something must be done...now. I'm sad, scared, and embarrassed.

  11. You folks are nuts. I came here to learn and discuss, not fight with people or be attacked. I'm done with the sight, there are other, better sights on here. You can save your good ridence speeches, you will get no response from me.
  12. Yes, I DID know the kind of forum it was. Thank you so much. And NO, my feelings are not hurt easily, nor am I offended personally easily. I felt bad for the other folks that might be hurt by these comments. I can take care of myself. You have a nice day.
  13. Thanks TommyO, You're right about that kind of posting....I am not yet banded and I am trying to learn as much about "real things" that happen to "real people", but that post almost made me decide to quit coming here. That was very cold and insensitive. If people are getting jaded because they are way down the road in their weightloss journey, maybe they should take a moment to remember how giddy and full of questions they were when they were starting out.

hello out there, a newbie here

Hi Dixie, I live in Murray Ky. Our surgeons are preparing to start doing the lapband surgery on hospital employees and their family members, but after the new year, they will be working with the public. Dr Swain will be the surgeon. And there is also a VERY experienced Dr in Paducah-Dr Argote-at Lourdes hospital. He does the band and the bypass. You might wanna make a couple of calls to get info. Hope I helped.
  15. Hi MyTurn, I too am just now getting the ball rolling with the exception of already having 4 of my 6 required visits to a dietician. MY psych people, my pcp, and my dietician are all on board, its just a matter of going to a seminar next week, meeting with the surgeon, and seeing the psych folks THEY want me to see. I'm scared too, I've never had surgery before...stiches and a broken collar bone is as far as I've gone, lol. I know if I can get approved once and for all, get through the yucky pre and post diets and fight through the post op pain, I will succeed. Good luck as you start this journey, we can be pals cause I'm starting it with you. If you would like to keep in touch, my name is Stephanie, and my email is stephkell@aol.com.
  16. I am not yet on a liquid diet, but my dietician is trying to prepare me, so I'm on the "Things To Eat Before Surgery" diet. I am having to drink coffee with only splenda in it every morning and I hate coffee and all the other kinds of foods, except, vegetables have been cut out...and I'm not even approved for surgery yet! My dietician says she's trying to get me ready for the "liver diet" that I'll have to do to shrink my liver and move it out of the way by surgery time. I guess there's nothing wrong with early preparation, but man its hard especially when I don't have the actual event to look forward to yet. Keep on trucking though cause you've made it this far! Congratulations and Good Luck on your journey!
  17. :wink2: I have been reading experiences on this page and now I'm scared. I am 30 yrs old, 5'3", and 253 lbs. I have been wanting surgery for several years now but have not had the resources or money. FINALLY, the opportunity for me to have this surgery may be in reach and I want to grab it! There is a program starting up at our local hospital (where my husband works) and for employees and their family members on the hospital insurance, the cost will be ridiculously low. All our surgeons and dieticians are in training right now. However, I have depression, anxiety/panic, and type A personality disorder, all of which are contolled with meds (except at PMS time). I see a therapist and a psychiatrist regularly...those two and my PCP are on board and have been ever since I started really discussing it with them. They have all said, "tell me what I need to write for you and who to send it to and I'll do it". I'm just afraid that with my diagnosis that I might fail the psych eval. I am in this for the right reasons and all MY docs see this, but will the "appointed" docs see it too?
