A thread for those quickly approaching onederland
Last Monday I weighed in at 214 (down 80) and I won't weigh myself until next Monday...I've been doing the Insanity workouts so I'm itching to see how much progress I've made in these two weeks, I'm SO anxious to be in onederland...I haven't been there since............

What do you normally have for breakfast?
I've been doing the Low-Carb Slim Fast shakes (they have more protein (20grams) than the "high proten" Slim Fast shakes (15 grams)...whaaa?) and that usually holds me over till late morning as well.

Fill....too tight?
Thank you all for your responses!! Everything seems okay so far, I've been taking it sloooow on adding solids, I'm still on liquids/mushies...nothing has gotten stuck but it still feels a little tight for me...as I've learned on this journey: BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! LOL! I'll probably try solids beginning of next week...maybe...if I feel like living life on the wild side Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Going back to work after surgery?
I took a week off of work, but even my first day back at work...just getting myself ready (shower, ironing clothes, etc) WORE ME OUT. The advantage I did have was that I sit at my desk for most of the day...but anytime I had to get up and move around...I was plum TIRED! You might not be in too bad of shape going back so soon...if you can just fight the urge to pass out =)

Fill....too tight?
Good morning, I got a fill yesterday and I'm doing the liquid diet afterwards now and I'm not sure if I'm too tight. I haven't been pb/sliming or throwing anything back up...but it just feels like the Water and Protein shakes are going down reaaaaally slowly. Maybe I'm just psyching myself out since I'm not having any of the usual tightness symptoms...I'm just worried about when I move to solids if it's going to be a problem. Those who have been too tight before, what did it feel like initially? I appreciate your responses!

Food Ideas?
Good morning... Could you all give me some good food ideas...I feel like I'm getting stuck eating the same old same and it's getting real boring for me! I'm also having a hard time getting enough calories in...I find it pretty hard to get in over 600-700 w/o snacking or eating unhealthy items. What's on your menu?

After surgery, what items could you have not lived without?
I couldn't live with out my massager...the gas pain in my left shoulder was HORRIBLE!! My mother massaged it the day of surgery and the next, but after that, I was on my own...LOL! The gas x strips, etc didn't work for the gas pains for me, but the massager did the trick!! :tt1:

Eat what you want!
My question is kind of related to this post & some of the things that have been said in reply to the initial post... Exactly how big is our pouch and how much are we "supposed" to eat? I've been thinking I was doing good just eating about 8 ounces of food per meal...but I've been seeing a lot of people say 1/2 cup or 4 ounces... What works for you all?

wii fit plus questions
If you customize the routine, you can go back to the previous routine by going to the "my routine" button...it will have the last routine you did saved. Unfortunately I don't think (or I haven't figured out) how to save multiple workouts.

Healthier food choices?
Hello all, this week was my first week on solids and I must say, I'm tired of broccoli, green Beans, and cauliflower as my side items... I need a better variety of veggie ideas, this low carb thing is kicking my butt! Like tonight I want to do baked pork chops, but I've had broccoli and green beans all week and I want to do something different. Is there anywhere online that has good 'bariatric' recipes/meal ideas? HELP!

Fruits & Veggies?

Bandsters in Their 20's
Hello! I'm 26 and I was banded on 08/17/09. I just went for my first post-op appointment and I've lost 24 lbs =) I have not shared my surgery with a lot of people, mainly just my inner circle, but I really don't share a lot of my personal business with anyone... As far as my goals, I went in weighing 294 pounds, on the verge of multiple long term complications, and I just want to get as far way from that as possible. I want to be healthy, I want to live with no regrets...... :w00t:

8/20/2009 Status Report for All August 2009 Bandits!!
*waves* I was banded on 8/17 and I'm feeling pretty good! I'm still on the liquid diet (*ugh*), but I have my post-op appointment tomorrow morning and hopefully (crosses fingers) I will be cleared for mushies! (I never thought I'd be so happy to eat mashed potatoes and oatmeal LOL!) I have been struggling with the lack of energy for the past couple of days. I'll get up to start doing something and after a few minutes I'll have to stop and rest or I'll get dizzy =( One feedback comment I do plan on giving the drs office is that the lap band manual that they gave us which, don't get me wrong, is an absolutely wonderful source of information, but the first week instructions should be much more clear than what they have in the manual. I mean weeks 2 - 4 are very elaborate with sample menus, drinks, etc but nada for week 1 except "drink clear liquids". For me personally, at this point, I don't care about week 4, because I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do for week 1!! But, eh....tis life...LOL! Good luck to all the future August bandsters =)

Newly Banded =)
RE: Jojo The day of banding (Monday), of course I was in pain, however once I got home and situated (and let me not forget medicated) I was fine. Tuesday I was a little uncomfortable, but as far as pain, it was very limited. Gas pain in my shoulder (very common) was probably the most pain I had, and my mother gave me a good shoulder rubbing that pretty much made that pain subside. Got outside and walked up the block, felt wonderful. Tuesday night I decided not to take any more pain meds after my dose at 9:00 pm. Slept through the night easily, some discomfort since I could not sleep how I usually sleep. Wednesday was great, I did not take any pain meds, walked a bit more around the neighborhood; still a little discomfort, just getting use to the surgical incisions on my stomach. Thursday (today) I walked this morning around the neighborhood, still no pain meds, and I'm having a pretty good day. Every so often I get a bit of pain in my shoulder (gas pain), however a good shoulder rub makes it much better for me. I've tried the gas strips/chewables, but that doesn't seem to help at all honestly. Hope this helps!
