    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Yes, I had a ton of back pain the first 5 days! I think some of it was gas-related, and a lot was muscle soreness/stiffness from being on the flat operating table and uncomfortable hospital beds! Either way it's no fun! I had the Tylenol with codeine and that helped me sleep at night.
  2. Has anyone else had to do 3 weeks of liquids only post-op? I’m 10 days post-op and I’m sooooooo hungry! Not sure I can do this for another 11 days. I’m getting in 84+ grams of protein a day. I think I’m getting in enough water! Seriously going nuts over here! I just want to CHEW something solid! 😭😭😭😭

    Muscle pain

I’m having this too, muscle pain just near my largest incision site. It’s the only place that’s really still sore at 10 days out. Then think I tried to turn in my sleep or something last night and made it worse. Argh!

Sip slower. Or maybe try a different temperature (warm broth vs. cold water)? I had the same thing for 4-5 days and then it got better. I can pretty much drink regularly now (my surgery was a week ago today). The gas pains lasted 3 days for me. Taking the mirolax they had me start day after surgery helped. Walking helped! Couldn't tell if the gas-x helped or not. Hang in there! You can do this!!

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Yes! I went and followed you on here, because I saw we were in the same starting weight range. :) Not gonna lie. The day-of and the day-after I was pretty miserable. Sore where my stomach is and near the incision sites, but the worst part was having LOTS of gas pains in my back! I started taking the powdered mirolax in some flavored water the day after surgery, and chewed up a few gas-x pills, and that seemed to help a lot. Take the Tylenol with codeine or whatever it is they give you!! I only needed it for 3 days, but it did help a TON! By 3-4 days out, i'm feeling like myself again. It's an adjustment getting used to sipping liquids. It took me a couple of days to figure out my limit; more than 2 small sips at a time and it hurts. My wife picked up some warm beef pho broth today and it's going down just fine. The protein shakes I liked before surgery taste nasty now, so I've got to figure out if there's something else that does taste good. Try not to stress. It's a short surgery, and will be over before you know it. You'll do great!

    Fluids after surgery

Yes, this! I'm 3 days post op and am really struggling with drinking. I've always been able to chug water if I go thirsty, and now i can't. Anything more than a sip or two at once and i get a sharp pain right above my stomach. Have only gotten in 26 oz of liquid today; 29 grams of protein. The Muscle Milk protein shakes I drank before surgery taste SO gross to me now. Gotta figure out something else! :P

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I was sleeved yesterday morning (14th). Anything more than teeny tiny sips and I get a sharp chest pain. Hopefully it will get better as time passes and the swelling goes down?

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Hope it went well for you this morning! 35lbs is awesome! Smurf did 2 weeks of 1200 calories, the last day liquids only, and lost 25lbs. It's SO tough! I admire you guys taking steps to take your lives back. It's such a good thing! Praying for a speedy recovery for you. <3 Mrs. Smurf

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Thanks guys! This is Smurf's wife. They wheeled him back at 10 after 7 and he was discharged to come home before 11:45am! The doc said he did great! He's got some upper back pain (he said it feels like he needs to crack his back, but can't), incisions are tender, and he can't stop belching, but otherwise he's good. I stuck some pictures out on his instagram (chunky2hunkysmurf 😂🤣) For him to get discharged he had to walk twice down the long hallway, drink 8 - 2oz things of water, be able to pee, and have a pain level of less than 5 (out of 10). Be sure you bring a thin pillow to put between you and the seatbelt on the way home!

Post op pain - be honest

This is Smurf's wife... they wheeled him back at 10 after 7 this morning, and he was discharged before 11:45am. He has some pretty bad upper back pain. He said it feels like he needs to crack his back, but can't. Walking and hydrocodone helped. LOL (When I asked if he had buyer's remorse he said, "yes, i'd rather just stay fat!") The incision sites are a little tender, and LOTS of belching, but otherwise i think he's okay. If I had to guess he'll be feeling more like himself in 2 or 3 days max.

Waiting for surgery at 7am this morning! Nervous as a cat! 😬

    Caffeine

The docs office said the surgeon would address caffeine at my 2 week post op. The dietitian said i'd be able to have up to 200mg caffeine daily starting 6 weeks after surgery. Which makes sense. You want to avoid anything that might slow the healing process.

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Getting sleeved on Wednesday (11/14). Found out i'm the first surgery of the day at 7am. I'm finally starting to stress out a bit. I can't wait for it to just be DONE so i can focus on healing and losing weight! I've been over 400 lbs for probably 12-13 years now. It is TIME for change; I want my life back! Today and tomorrow are my last 2 days of the regular pre-op diet and then liquids only on Tuesday. I still can't believe i'm down 23 lbs! I've never lost that much that fast on any other diet! This is getting real, guys! Anyone else getting sleeved on the 14th??
