  1. Want to start off by thanking everyone for their opinions and posts. I’m not an active user, so I truly appreciate everyone else that is. I had gastric sleeve surgery in October 2018. My starting weight was 556lb pre-surgery diet, I am now at 335lb. So, I’ve obviously had tremendous results. Recently though, the past 3 months I’ve had random occurrences of heart palpitations, fatigue at times, near fainting, etc. My heart rate is also very low on a normal basis, sub 50 is regular at rest..and then can dip to high 30s while sleeping. Has anyone had issues like this post surgery that we might need to consider? I’ve checked my iron levels, thyroid, etc to no avail. I am fairly young, in my 30s and up until these issues started I was working out 3 days a week. Its been awful to lose this much weight and feel hopeless overall about my health. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. thanks!

What post op diet plans does your doctor's have? Just curious. Mine is two weeks all fluids, 2 weeks pureed.

@girlshrinking. Absolutely. Constipation on the pre op diet was normal. It was relieved by working in a good amount of fiber though via like metamucil or benefiber. The headaches are often because of low sodium. Drink some broth, or take a couple bites of pickles is what my doctor said.

    October 2018 Sleevers

Wanted to post an update: Surgery itself, no problems at all. Pretty much immediately when they started giving me stuff to drink I did throw up once, and it was this nasty looking blood stuff. It freaked me out, but they said as long as there weren't other symptoms - I'm fine. First night was OK, with relatively no major pain. The only pain I'm having now really is right at the middle of my stomach. It feels like deep gas pain, but honestly it's hard to tell. The doctors think it might be the incisions, since I haven't had surgery before I don't have much to compare it to. Overall, going OK. I still have not passed any stool since surgery - that's a little alarming to me. How about you guys? My surgery was on the 9th.

Go in tomorrow first thing in the morning. Some words of assurance on the surgery itself would be nice. I've never had any kind of anesthesia, so I'm more worried about that than anything. Anyone else freak out about that? Words of encouragement on that would be nice. Do you just knod off or is it instant?

Had my Pre-op assessment yesterday, all good there and paid my fees! I guess it’s actually happening. Surgery on Tuesday.
  7. @thucydides Just what I needed to hear. I worry that I am limited to around about what my surgeon says I should lose...which was just not enough overall.
  8. Sorry to bump such an old topic, but this is good to hear. I was worried about being able to lose as much weight as I would like on the sleeve, given my starting weight of 500+. Anyone else have good results around that mark?

    October 2018 Sleevers

Newbie here! Joined the forum just to share my surgery date of October 9th. Excited to be in the October class with everyone! Should definitely keep in touch with each other on progress. I am having the sleeve done at Wake Forest, in NC with Dr. Fernandez. I am definitely on the bigger scale for a sleeve patience (500lb), but I'm otherwise healthy so I'm hoping that it won't matter long term. Thanks for all the positive comments!
