Unexpected side effects of losing weight.
The steering wheel thing is hilarious. Before losing weight a friend of mine, who is a couple of inches taller then me, drove my car and asked how in the hell did I reach the peddles with my seat on the farthest back position. I have had to move my seat up twice these past couple of months due to weight loss in the buttock area. Just the other day I accused my husband of moving the seat back. He didn't...feels good to know that my bum is getting smaller and taking up less room on the seat:biggrin:.

Friday Morning Weigh-In, June 5, 2009
I had a gain of about a pound and I suspect that it is Water weight for eating out. I was in Savannah on business and made ok choices, but eating out always has so much sodium. Trying to drink lots of water and getting back to my running/walking. My next challenge will be at the beach next weekend. There will be a lot of drinking:blush: and eating :blushing:. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Want to start running...need encouragement
I run in my neighborhood with the volume on low. I can hear a car coming before it gets to me. I don't plan on running at night and I wouldn't think running in a 5k with headphones on . I think you would need your full attention around you since there are so many people, kids and pets.

Feeling a bit like a failure
If you are active you might need more then 1200 calories. You might want to adjust up a little. I don't know. Some weeks I can lose and some weeks stay the same. Even when I do the exact things. I am cheering for you! Please PM or E-mail me if you need some support. We can do this!:frown:

Want to start running...need encouragement
I just had to "get over it" when it came to people seeing me run. I started looking at people running and I barely noticed what they looked like from the car. I think you have to tune out everyone out listen to your music and just do it. I did and don't feel nearly as self conscious as I did on Sunday. This morning was great – I guess running releases some endorphins and I feel fantastic. I am still on week 1 of the Couch to 5K Podcast, and I am not ready for week 2 until I can run comfortably. Take it slow and do your best. You don’t want to go gun hoe and then injury yourself to the point of not being able to exercise. On the breathing, just take it easy.

Feeling a bit like a failure
Gilta - Big hugs to you!!! Have you been tracking your food? Being mindful of how many calories you are eating? Watching portion sizes? What about changing your eating or exercise habits. I got stuck around the Holidays and stop tracking. Weight loss stalled and I continued to exercise but struggled. I started tracking again and I was eating only 800 calories - clearly not enough for weight loss. I had to slowly increase my calories to about 1100-1200 and also taking in Protein supplements. I have a shake in the morning and I sip on a protein bullet with Water during the day. I eat a ton of chicken and fish and have loads of veggies and selective with my fruit. I just started running a bit to spice my exercise routine up. Don't give up! You are getting close to goal...the closer you get the harder it is. But never, never give up!

Want to start running...need encouragement
Thanks guys! I did it today. I walked/ran for about 4 miles and it was great. I now see how addicting running can be. I can't believe that I am actually running!!

In the deciding phase of having surgery- has anyone regretted having the surgery?
I have no regrets. Sure, I have had some tough times - bandster hell and a couple of PB's. But all worth the 84 pounds I have lost.

Want to start running...need encouragement
I work out at Curves 4 times a week and the Fri-Sun I walk about 3.5 miles in about an hour each day. I am ready to start moving a little bit more as the walk is fun (hills and all) but the challenge is gone. I want to run. Something I thought I would never say in a million years. At 280 pounds I never had a hard time strutting myself in a swimsuit and lying out by the pool or beach. For some reason, I feel that I might look ridiculous running at about 195 pounds. I have never felt self conscious about anything when I was heavier. Not that I am over 80 lbs thinner I have a feeling everybody will be peeping out their windows starting at the big girl running. I am sure not, but it is all in my head. I know what to do this, I have downloaded several podcast for couch to 5k, bought good ruinning shoes and a sports bra. I think I need some reassurance from the 1st time runners and long time runners that you didn't gave a damn who was looking you. You just did it. I keep telling myself that....but I still have a little reservations about it. Any words of wisdom here?

did you happen to read that post?
I was aware of where this post was. I was just very offended by the comment "Honestly, I don't understand why people are still getting bands." I took quite personally. I think you would have also if I said the same thing about sleeves and the Bypass. I felt like my choice to get the band was silly and done because insurance would pay for it. I got the band as a tool to help me lose weight. I felt that was the best option for me. I have no issues with anybody posting anywhere regardless of the surgery option you choose. People who had a bad experience with the band should share and caution others but don't bash the choice of getting and staying banded.

did you happen to read that post?
I understand that the band may not work for everyone but there is no need to bash the band or the doctors that place them in patients. We all share a common problem here and that is being overweight and getting surgery to HELP us lose the weight. The people who have had the sleeve seem to be very overbearing and so negative about the band. So the band didn't work for you, that does not mean it will not work for others. Please remember that you are on a forum where the majority here have a band and are happy. Please try to be more considerate and tolerate of other people's choices of weight loss method.

Does your bra cause more restriction?
I thought it was just me. The bra comes off the moment I get stuck. I have no idea why this works, bit it does.

Anniversary Challenge
I missed my goal by a pound. But not at all upset. Any loss is better then a gain. I still hope to by 185 by July 4th - we shall see:tongue_smilie: I hope everyone is having a great Memorial weekend.

Best Compliment
I got told "Move out of my way skinny girl." I am not skinny, but a lot thinner then I used to be.

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
moonbeam, You will need more then 1 fill to get to optimal restriction. The band will help with hunger, but not "head" hunger. Most of us are not truly hungry at night we are just in a habit of snacking and munching at night. The band can only do so much we have to muster that self control and close the pantry and refrigerator door. It is a struggle, but being properly restricted does help.

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
I believe big time in tracking and I do use the daily plate on Livestrong.com. I find that if I don't get enough in during the day I am HUNGRY at night. I try to do good snacks during the day and that helps...a little. I try to fix a cup of tea around 8:00 and make it really hot so that I have to wait 15 minutes for it to cool and then I sip until bed. Oh the tactics I try to keep the hunger monster at bay.

Booze
Yes, wine makes me relax in more ways then one. I tend to make bad food choices when drinking. I drink in moderation.

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
I have always have been a night time eater/snacker. I allow myself to have a local/carb snack and then SF Jello and anything after that is either tea (caffeine free) or water. I have learned that it is a habit but it doesn't have to be a bad habit. I just have to keep in check. I do suffer more on the weekends that I don't keep busy enough during the day.
