prkitty got a reaction from CapyCapybara in Mental healthGood morning. Quick question.... did you notice with this weight loss surgery that you got overly emotional? Like I literally feel pregnant. I'm crying one minute, pissed off the next then laughing hysterically. I'm wondering if I'm losing my mind or if it's the beginning of some hormonal changes. [emoji20] [emoji4]

Well geez. I am 3 months post op and I had a convention and had to eat out. I tolerate soft meatballs so I decided to buy 2 tablespoons of soft beef stew for lunch. Oh boy that was a disaster. When I left the mall and was driving to my event I had to pull over twice to vomit. My gosh did I feel sick for about 3 hours. awful awful awful. I just don't understand why at this point I cannot seem to get meats down. Its protein! And low carb which is important to me as a diabetic.
Has this happened to anyone before? it was projectile vomiting UGH!I am getting ready to celebrate loosing 50 lbs!! Its only 1 lbs away. I am SO thrilled. I am traveling for the first time since my surgery to my 25th college reunion. Really hoping that I will be able to get by being overseas and no access to my usual go to foods. Guess it will be protein drinks galore.
I remember feeling like I would fail at this but here I am getting ready to celebrate 50 lbs after 3 months. I can clearly see how loosing another 50 by the end of this year is possible and I am getting EXCITED!
I bought my first 'regular size' clothing 2 weeks ago. A regular size large. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh that felt GREAT! I have not been able to fit into anything but plus size clothing for about 6 years so I was real fussy

prkitty reacted to mousecat88 in MultivitaminsCelebrate makes a powder that comes in two different flavors that you take twice a day. Tastes decent. I take Opurity by Unjury now, though, which is a good tasting chewable and only once a day.

prkitty reacted to Jengo825 in MultivitaminsI have been using the ProCare BariatricPal vitamins (90 capsules) for about a year now. I take only 1 a day and it covers all of my doctor prescribed nutritional needs. My many blood tests taken for my on year check up were perfect. My calcium citrate supplement is Bariatric Advantage chewy bites 3x/day but needs to be taken 2 hours or more after the ProCare vitamin. The chewy bites are really good! -
prkitty reacted to axlr8n in MultivitaminsI just switched to them recently... was having some issues with Vitamin D and Iron and my bariatric surgeon recommended that I switch to these. I haven't had labs done since, but it sure is convenient!

prkitty got a reaction from Liz The New Me in MultivitaminsSo I'm currently taking optisource 2x a day. I'd like to not have to chew everything. They taste awful. Has anyone tried this multivitamin in the pic? Just curious if it is worth the money and how the absorption is. Tia

prkitty reacted to Frustr8 in MultivitaminsDon't know but I surely like the sentiment. Don't we, as Bariatric People, deserve some simplicity? -
It has to do with microbial changes in your gut bacteria due to the surgery and changes in tract dynamics, the smell goes away for the most part. Sometimes it's nasty, usually when I eat foods I really shouldn't, but typically it gets better as you heal and work through all the diet changes.
Something else to note, after WLS the "Never Trust a Fart" motto is one to live by, I haven't had it happen, but LOTS of folks report Fart+'s happen much more often.

prkitty got a reaction from FluffyChix in The Importance of viewing the "Whole Picture"My son actually had me do measurements and told me to stay of the scale. He bodybuilds. I'm going to keep measurements from now on. I don't know if I can stay off the scale as that is the number the EVERY doctor goes by. It did start moving today. I lost three lbs. I'm still going to work on my water 60 ounces is still a struggle and continue to track nutrients. I'm going to continue to go to the gym as well and take joy in small achievements. Such as I have ankles now, lol. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and letting me vent. -
prkitty got a reaction from FluffyChix in The Importance of viewing the "Whole Picture"I'm glad I saw this. I'm still in a stall after only three weeks post OP. It's difficult not to be frustrated. Especially when I'm following the prescribed diet and exercising. Thanks for sharing.

prkitty reacted to MarinaGirl in Struggling to stay with it.You do not need to go back to a liquid diet, which was critical for your stomach/intestines to heal properly right after gastric bypass. Doing so is fad diet mentality and wasn’t effective pre-surgery and won’t be post-surgery. Instead, focus on eating dense protein first, followed by non-starchy vegetables.
I highly recommend you work with a therapist to figure out why you’re sabotaging yourself - you need to address your food issues as soon as possible. Also, clean up your cupboards, and don’t buy any junk or processed food going forward; make sure you’re consuming more than 64 oz of water a day as thirst can sometimes be confused with hunger; measure out your food with a scale as we’re not good at eye balling portion sizes; and track ALL you consume (be honest) with an app like MyFitnessPal or a food journal.

prkitty reacted to Matt Z in Gastric bypass reversal, how prevalent?Major complications are extremely rare. Reversals are also extremely rare.
The rate of severe complications has dropped drastically in the past 10-15 years as newer medical technologies have come into play. Don't let someone's issue sway your decision. Being overweight typically has more complications than the surgery does.

prkitty reacted to Matt Z in The Importance of viewing the "Whole Picture"The human body loves to keep things status quo. So when you start messing with intake, it does whatever it can to hold onto fat and energy stores. It does end up giving up and getting with the new program... for a bit anyway, then it gets all clingy with the fat cells again... as long as you are tracking your BMR and intakes, and are getting plenty of water (128oz +) then you'll be ok. I so totally get the frustration! If you can, get a body fat measurement device or find a gym or nutritional store that has one, paying attention to fat loss, I feel, is pretty important, we see weight as a single factor, but, bones, muscle, tendons, our organs all contribute to our weight, the goal of Weight Loss Surgery is to reduce the weight from Fat only. It really should be called Fat Loss Surgery, and I think that would get more people paying attention to their fat content rather than focusing only on the weight number.

prkitty got a reaction from Kbridge in Weight loss HALTThanks.... I'm so paranoid and have become a slave to the scale. Just found my tape measure and am going to get my measurements to monitor. I have been freaking out the last few days about the scale. Wish I could go to the gym but still feeling a pull and some pain. I have been walking daily. Guess, I need to learn to relax some. [emoji4]
