You have given me faith and although I don’t wish for you to struggle or feel anxious it is reassuring that it’s all part of the process and I’m not alone. I’m craving chargrilled chicken!!!! We can all do this together x x

Consommé and bovril listed as a drinks I may have. The beef consommé is very tasty and only 17 calories, I’m a savoury tooth and understand your frustrations with sweet tastes

I was able to tend to myself but now at 12 days out, it's still uncomfortable to bend over. I don't want to screw anything up before my FMLA is up (I have 4 weeks) so I am not bending over, picking anything up, or pushing my mom in her wheelchair. I can cook, clean the kitchen. I'm not doing laundry or vacuuming.

Personally, I found that the first 2 weeks that were initially discussed with my Dr was healing time and then you are good to go. This was not so for me, I was literally sick, weak and didn't feel like doing anything. I returned to the hospital in a couple of weeks and had my gallbladder removed because I was so sick. If you are having this surgery allow yourself more time to heal than the doctors say, it is your body and a life changing surgery.

First week; not much. Just relaxed. Week two; I could clean, walk, go in the pool, run errands, etc

    Walk bent over and cry.
    Joking , a little.
I was a slow recoverer (not healer) I did everything for myself but was I was in no way at the top of my game biking, hiking, sexing etc.
I was able to get out of bed alone, use the bathroom, clean my jp drain , shower slowly, boil water for tea, wash three dishes, mix protein powders, give up bone broth, cry, reread Ender's Game, sit upright on the couch, walk around the house aimlessly, vacuum, tiddy the bookshelves / medicine cabinet but if something fell, it stayed there...
BTW I was sleeved (for some reason I can't see which forums I'm participating in until I leave them...sorry)

Pain tolerance and how you feel is different for each of us. Your team will take good care of you to manage it. You will have pain meds at the hospital and when you are sent home. The nursing staff had me walking the hallways the day after surgery. At home I was instructed to continue walk and had lifting restrictions. Walking helps the healing process.
You will be given your specific instructions when you are sent home.
BTW - I bounced back quickly. I expected pain and it goes away with time. You can listen to all our stories/examples but your experience is going to be unique to you.

Wish my diet mentioned bone and other broths as being allowed, but then maybe, then I'll get sick of them in the post surgery days anyway. I think I'm rebelling against the same blandness and sweet drinks EVERY DAY! I keep quoting the same Bible, verse the, people with post-surgery gas do, " this too will pass", good to know it's not forever but the days creep along, don't they?

I personally found that after 3 days, I no longer felt hungry on my pre op diet. I think sometimes just the fear of thinking you will be starving is enough to give you the jitters, but in reality, once you get into it and get a routine going, its not that bad.

Take heart, we have all been there, we all survived it and you will too!

Trying to stick,it out, every body nseems to feel this once over, you'll want to go it again!
People asked me if I have gotten, nauseous, not until yesterday, if I found my shake too sweet, not until yesterday, do I wish this diet was over, not until yesterday. I guess yesterday was a bummer of a day. Day 16 of this Verdompt diet torture, and really my diet isn't THAT terrible, it's just familiarity breeds contempt. I keep telling myself I'm going have such a pretty slendar liver but Matt does anybody care that much?
Nut I did volunteer for 4+ weeks, Turing out to be closer to 5., But I'm still plodding forward?

I am almost 6 weeks out. Everybody is different, but I had a hard time beforehand. I will admit, I did end up cheating a few times. I will tell you this though, I am not hungry now. And I don't mind eating the exact same thing every day. I know this lack of hunger is only a limited time deal, but I really could handle this for the rest of my life.
You'll make it! Try and distract yourself, works most of the time.

August 8th here! Was doing great on the two-week liquid diet minus the mood swings, hunger cravings, and willingness to murder someone in exchange for tacos, ya know...typrical human behavior.
Yesterday the cravings got the best of me and I made the rookie move of attempting to have one small solid meal, which turned into one large solid meal...which then turned into an actual slip-up. It was disheartening and embarrassing, especially since I've lost 41 lbs pre-op with really only one or two minor falterings.
Today it's almost dinner and I'm back on track. Just joined this site today hoping I can find some strength and understanding from others who know what I'm feeling. Congrats to everyone on their progress so far! We're almost there.
