GB2018 reacted to It's about Me in Three Month Post Op Check-InHello all,
Well today is my three month post op check up with my surgeon. I am down 62 pounds since my journey started in December 2017. My surgery was on May 16th, 2018 so since my surgery date I have lost 36 pounds. I did hit a bit of a stall for a week but I just tried to ignore it and keep on keepin on.

water retention, muscle growth if you are working out, and your body trying to take a pause to adjust itself... all things that cause stalls or slight regains while are you staying on track with your water/protein/intake... really only time to worry too much about a stall or slight regain is if you know you are not following your diet/instructions.
Something else to be aware of, you can lose body fat and gain "weight" as odd as that sounds. It happens to me very often, ESP on the weeks when I'm hitting the gym hard and working on muscle growth. When I do a cardio only week or like now, taking time off due to some back issues (arthritis, yay) the weight starts dropping again.
Just work to focus on getting that water intake up, since our bodies use water to process fat, if we aren't getting enough to cover the daily requirements, plus the added fat reduction, things tend to bog down because our bodies have to prioritize the water usage and fat reduction tends to be less efficient with low water intake. By all means don't worry about it if you are having a hard time, just as long as you are continually trying to increase your water intake.
Good luck!

And couldn't you still have a little internal swelling and bloat? Your poor body was through a lot recently! -
Good call on this one, @GB73018 us revisions tend to lose slower overall, just something else to watch out for and be ready for mentally. Even being aware of it, like I was, didn't prepare me for the frustration of watching others drop weight hand over fist while I just keep slowly losing.
But rest assured, if you keep yourself on track, you'll lose the weight just fine, it just might not seem as drastic as those that didn't have a WLS already.

I agree with Matt.
Also, as a revision surgery you are likely to not lose as quickly someone who is having a bariatric surgery for the first time.
Let your body heal and follow the program and you will see results!

GB2018 got a reaction from clsumrall in Anyone not just stalled, but gained, weight Post-op week 2-3?Hi Everyone! I posted this similar post on a reply another post, but I thought I would start a new post.
I had a gastric sleeve 3/14/2016. I had a sleeve to bypass revision on 7/30/18 due to reflux and nausea, and to try to get me closer to my goal. I am post-op 15 days. I lost 14 pounds from 1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op clear liquid diet. I started full liquids on 8/5/2018 and started pureed (Mashables) two days ago, 8/12/18. I am staying around 60-70 grams of Protein per day and about 450-650 calories. I am struggling a little bit with getting my fluids in... I'm around 50 ounces per day of Water. The day I started full liquids (actually taking in any calories) I stopped losing any weight. I have now gained 3.6 pounds since Sunday, 8/5/18. My NUT told me yesterday that my body is holding on to every calorie right now and it will change in time. I am a little frustrated. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I would love to hear y'all's feedback!

Yes. Happens often.
Don't worry about ANY stall if you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Your body takes time to adjust and likes to fight changes... you'll be fine.

GB2018 reacted to LL44 in Weight loss rates? Stalled already?I never thought of it that way...I am also not having very frequent bowel movements too... so I thought that might the cause. I have to be careful when I take Senokot though...I can't be caught out & about without washroom access, especially when I go back to work in Sept (teacher!)

GB2018 reacted to Naughty Glitter Goddess in Weight loss rates? Stalled already?Every time I work on losing weight I hit stalls. I can totally relate to that frustration. Something that really helped me was a conversation with my nutritionist about what is happening in your body during a plateau. As you lose weight, regardless of how, your metabolism is working to readjust itself and adapt to the new normal. Your hormones are regulating, your body is working to hang onto fat and muscle, your kidneys are making adjustments to regulating your water retention in this new environment and basically everything is in an uproar. In a good way! Also, the way fat cells react during weight loss has been discussed in a few other threads in more detail but basically they can hold on to quite a bit of water as you are losing fat. Eventually the water will be released and your scale will reflect that number.
So now, when I hit a stall, I imagine the inside of my body, still working on the weight loss, but just doing something that doesn't reflect on the scale. It's hard at work making you small from the inside out so we've just got to let it remodel the infrastructure for a few days before the weight starts to drop again.
Good luck - it's definitely a mental game!

GB2018 reacted to TeeJay84 in Why so slow???WOW! This was eye-opening! I consider myself a slow loser, but I seem to be right on track with the 200-250 group.

GB2018 reacted to Heather E in Getting discouraged.....need some encouragementI have been following my plan, just getting to add in meats this week, like some chicken (moist) and some ground meats. I am getting my protein and water (64 oz) in. I am also walking at least 30 minutes a day. I also get to add some fruit this week too. My nutritionist wants a balance of (good)carbs/fats/protein, and I log it all on Baritastic app. I am mostly emotional about it. Just wanting some positive encouragement that this phase will pass. I teach preschool and I go back to work next week, I think that being even more active with my preschoolers will also help conquer the stalls, I have actually lost about 66 pounds since my high weight of 362 in April this year, so I am able to be more active with them than I have in the past.

GB2018 reacted to Heather E in Getting discouraged.....need some encouragementI am almost 6 weeks out, I had a 2 week stall at 3 and 4 weeks where I just bounced between 300 and 301 for the whole 2 weeks. Then, I went to 297 and have been bouncing between 296 and 297 for the last 2 weeks...I just feel like no matter what I do, I seem to just be stuck. I keep seeing the super successes of some people and it's hard for me to see it in myself right now....I just need to know that if I keep up with what I am doing that I can get to where I want to be....someday.

GB2018 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Weight loss rates? Stalled already?Hi Everyone! I was sleeved in March of 2016. I had sleeve to bypass revision on 7/30/18 due to reflux and nausea. I am post-op 12 days. I lost 14 pounds from 1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op clear liquid diet. I have been on full liquids since this past Sunday. I have two protein shakes per day and cottage cheese. I am around 60-70 grams of protein per day and about 450-550 calories. I am struggling a little bit with getting my fluids in... I'm around 50 ounces per day of water. The day I started full liquids (actually taking in any calories) I stopped losing any weight. I have actually gained 1.8 pounds since Sunday (6 days ago). I am a little frustrated, but am hoping it is just a stall or something. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
