  1. I used to be a CRA, now CTM; I would pack boiled Eggs, chicken and freeze my protein shakes if I didn’t want to check a suitcase. If there was no fridge in the room, I would either request one before getting to the hotel or fill the ice bucket in the room with ice from the ice machine to preserve my food. The breakfast bar would also have sausages, bacon, eggs and yogurt. I also had the address of every Whole Food store or supermarket close to the hotel or site.

  4. I had my RNY and hernia repair on May 11th. Reflux stopped immediately and I spent one night at the hospital. I started my protein shake as soon as I got home and on May 14th, I woke up with excruciating stomach cramp and diarrhea and thought that I was dying. The doctor on call called me back and told me to lay off the protein shakes and take Imodium. He said it was lactose intolerance and I should only sip water for 24 hours. I had to throw away 6 boxes of premier protein shake and have now switched to fairlife which is lactose and gluten free. I seem to be tolerating this well. At my clinic, it is full liquid for 7 days as soon as you leave the hospital, 1 week of purée, then weeks 3-5 of soft food and you can begin to introduce solid food one at a time after week 5. Pre-surgery was just liquid only 1 day before surgery. I believe that lactose intolerance is usually with bypass patients. I did not have any problems with the sleeve in 2018, but was one of the few who never lose weight after the sleeve; just 45Ibs and very bad reflux.

  6. I had the sleeve 4 years ago and was released a couple of hours after the surgery. Everything went okay and I personally would rather not stay overnight in a hospital if I don’t need to. My insurance paid and would have paid for the overnight stay. I had all the pain medication that I needed but only took Tylenol the day I was released and that was it.
  7. May 11th revision to gastric bypass
  8. Please can anyone tell me when swallowing stops hurting?

  10. My surgery was today, I came out of surgery in so much pain I kept asking myself why I resorted to surgery. My son has been making me work every hour. Now, no pain and just a bit of discomfort in both shoulders. Did not use pain killer but used the anti-nausea tablets twice. I am only able to drink water today and hopefully can start on the shakes tomorrow.
  11. This is my first time posting; sorry for the multiple posts.
  12. I got my surgery date today for October 12. I am having pre-op meeting tomorrow. Just 1 day of liquids - a day before surgery. I am very excited and anxious at the same time, although I am very glad that I do not have a long wait to scare myself out of the surgery.
