I just past my 1 year "surgerversury" and doing great. Down 110lbs and holding fast. Been in a stall for five months but feeling spectacular. I would still like to lose another 30 lbs, but if it takes me another year or two I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Well 7 pm night before my surgery my fiancé pretty much told me to go F&&^% myself and I was selfish for doing it. And that I had to find a ride the next morning to surgery.

Fast forward to now that I am loosing and feeling GREAT. He doesn't get it and is so negative and controlling. I am finally seeing changes in myself and he pulls the rug out from underneath me and I am left feeling worse than before surgery.

And he is overweight and unhealthy. Doesn't care what he eats or drinks. HATES veggies. Eats out all the time. BUT yet he will go to the gym with me........ to control that situation I am sure.

Just UGH at the point and very stressed out. I hope I don't put myself in an plateau due to stress.

What did you want to achieve by having surgery?
I lost quite a bit of weight before surgery (45 pounds) and I too had some thoughts about "I could just keep this up, I don't really need surgery." As soon as I started thinking that way I stumbled across an article about a young couple whose obesity is at deadly levels DESPITE them both having bypass surgery...both refused to change their ways with food habits. That article cured me of any resignation that I had.
I don't focus on the food or the lack thereof. There are things I want to do, things I haven't been able to do with the weight on. I've spent enough of my life abusing my body with food that was tasty...time to enjoy some other fruits of life instead.

There is so much healthy and delicious food that you can order at an Italian restaurant! Seafood is easy, shellfish (shrimp and clams come to mind), broccoli rabe and spinach sides, meatballs even! Ask for them just to bring a half-serving and package the rest to take home if you’re anxious about seeming like you’re not eating a full serving, or just order off the appetizers. And soup! Don’t forget soup! So many great and healthy food choices. Go, enjoy both the food and your family, and be proud of yourself!
