  1. Wow! I have not heard about the milkshake thing. Have you tried it? Does it go down well? I'm debating trying the baby food route... have you tried anything other than clears yet?
  2. Hey Kelli! Same situation here. I had my surgery on February 3rd and I am STARVING!!! No real food since Thursday has been quite a challenge. I was under the impression that you wouldn't be hungry for a few weeks afer. That was so not the case for me. The broth seems to work best, but anything I eat runs right through me. Good luck and keep in touch
  3. Hello... thanks for the suggestions. I have been drinking gatorade which is great, but it does not keep the hunger pains away. How soon before I can begin protein shakes. Can I drink slim fast? Other than the hunger... I really am feeling pretty good. It is sometimes difficult to go from sitting to standing, but luckily I think I am managing pretty well. I do have a bloated abdomen, but lucky me,,, I got my period the day after my surgery. UGH! Are you both happy with the results you've had? Anything else I should know?
  4. hello out there. I just got my band on February 3rd and I am in the first week liquid stage, but I am having a really hard time. I am REALLY hungry. My doctor said my hunger is due to the fact that I was not really swollen after surgery. Any suggestions. Any liquids I drink, come right back out the other way.... I don't want to dehydrate... HELP:help:
  5. Wow! If you could read my mind!!!! What a wonderfully eloquent way to ask the question that has plagued me for years. My surgery is TOMORROW!!!! I drive to Tijuana in the morning! I will let you know how it goes.. in the meantime, I must take the testimonials I have read here as proof that there is hope for us. In the meantime, Put... the.... Chips.... Back!!!!! I plumped up 10 disgusting pounds with the knowledge of my impending surgery!!!!!!!!!! It really is pathetic. Wish me luck.
  6. Hey Gadgetlady... I too am from Orange County However, I don't qualify for surgery in the US... so on Feb. 3rd.... Friday I off to Tijuana for my surgery. You want to talk about scary! I also feel bad that I am not telling my children or my parents or inlaws where I am going or why... I guess I am just afraid that everyone will try to talk me out of it. I think the letters is a wonderful gesture... although most likely not necessary... even so... I think you should keep the letters and give them to the children when they are older... so they know how much you thought of them. Anyway, nice to have someone so close going through the same experience:) Good luck!
  7. February 3rd Dr. Huacuz Tijuana, Mexico.........Good luck to ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I hope this does not offend anyone, but I have struggled with my weight all of my life just like those with higher BMI's. At my highest weight I weighed 200lbs. I have now struggled my way down to 185... it is a DAILY battle plagued with exercise and deprivation of those foods I love! I am scheduled to be banded on Feb. 3rd and although I am absolutely thrilled to finally have some help with my daily battle... I am curious as to whether or not anyone else is in a similar situation. Or if there is anyone with a low BMI that has been banded and has been successful. I know for many of you... I should just be happy to be 185 lbs. but I have obesity on both sides of my family in a very BIG way and this is just TOO MUCH of an issue to just ignore it! Good luck to all as we battle this demon!
  9. Missy4Gordon, I am scheduled to have my surgery on Friday, January 3rd. I have noticed several of your threads. It seems that you are pleased so far.... would you recommend Dr. Huacuz? Have you had any complications, discomfort or frustrations throughout this experience? Any regrets? I too am using Dr. Huacuz and I hate reading some of these negative threads about him.... should I be alarmed?
  10. Thank you so much for your support. I really hope I am making the right decisions and don't end up with any complications! Your words were reassuring. I'll keep you posted.
  11. Imalean, I scheduled to have my surgery with Dr. Huacuz... but I am having second thoughts and considering Dr. Kuri or Dr. Ortiz instead... any ideas on who might be a better choice?
