  1. Liquid diet Day 7 - a better day! I felt stronger and more human today, and it made me think I can make it through until next Friday's surgery date! I bought some water with electrolytes in it, maybe that helped?
  2. My husband has been amazing. I've been careful who I tell right now because I told my close friend (who is very overweight), her reaction was very negative. Within a week she had found a reason to end our friendship. I was really thrown.
  3. I know! That is what is bothering me about the liquid diet. I feel kind of weak and lethargic (not extreme, I'm still doing all the stuff I do) - which is not how I wanted to face this new opportunity! From what I've seen on this forum, pre-op diet does seem to vary (widely, I might add!) from surgeon to surgeon. Mine feels it's very important for me to reduce the size of my liver before the surgery. So weird, I never had thought about the size of my liver before...
  4. I like the pre-made Atkins Advantage shakes and the Isopure drinks that come in glass bottles. They have fruit flavors and a green tea that I had today and really liked. 40g protein and 160 cal. I've bought them at the Vitamin Shoppe and GNC. I'm on all liquids. Harder than I thought as far as weakness and crankiness, but 7/25 is my light at the end of the tunnel! And I've lost 7 lbs since Monday. Good wishes!
  5. Hi Vegas Girl! Welcome to the liquid lunch! (and Breakfast, and dinner...) I've been trying a few ready-made Protein drinks, and my favorites are the Atkins Advantage and Isopure Fruit Drinks. The isopure also comes in a green tea that I tried today - delicious! They have 40g protein and 160 cal, so lots of bang for the buck. I am not allowed anything except the shakes and Water. It's been heck since Monday. This afternoon I felt like my body was screaming for nutrients, so I cheated with a tiny can of v-8. It was soooooo good! The great variety of pre-op diets is kind of confusing to me. Some get to have a meal, some no diet until right before the surgery, and some all liquid. My surgeon has me terrified to stray, because they say they will cancel the surgery that day if my liver hasn't shrunk enough. Good wishes to all...July 25 here I come!
  6. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your surgery/hospital experience. Hearing what others are going through is important on many levels. You're a great storyteller - I really felt the experience! I just wanted to thank you and wish you well. It's been a rough day for me on the pre-op diet, and I needed to hear someone's good news!
  7. Liquid Diet day 4. Much harder than I thought it would be. Yes, I am cranky. Cranky and weak. You would think that with all this "energy" stored in my body as fat, weakness wouldn't be an issue! I am not allowed anything other than the protein drinks. However, reading here about people's success is great! Even other cranky hungry posts help me not feel so alone.
  8. I'm July 25th, too! I was on the list, but somehow now off it. Thanks to those of you who say what liquid diets you are using - I really didn't get great information from my people at True Results about that. Is Optifast a prescription diet? My liquid diet begins next Thursday the 10th - do any of you 7/25'ers want to start with me? I am so ready. And nervous. And grateful to have a community.
  9. July 25 is my date, and I am so excited/nervous and READY! My heart tests are this week - all in all, the approval process w/ BCBS has been great. Let's go Summer Bandsters - WE CAN DO IT!!!
  10. Hello and thanks to all who post here - I've learned a lot, and it is so wonderful to have a community of support! I'm in Phoenix, AZ and will be banded July 25 (YAY!). Anyone on or near my date? I'll start my liquid diet in a couple of weeks, and feel nervous about how it will go. Does it mean only Protein drinks, or are there other things you can have? I've been replacing 1 meal w/ a Protein shake, but I really need to search out good options that I can take with me on the go.
