Surgery part 2 performed 8/22/18
Slept with body pillow on my side somewhat last night. Didn’t sleep great. Trying to avoid pain tabs if possible but have taken them at night. I’m finding that I’m having “mind” hunger vs physical hunger. Like I could go for a Krystal burger but not hungry for one. Hooefully go to yogurt, strained soup, protein shake after day 4 according to post op plan.

Surgery part 2 performed 8/22/18
Day 2 post op and I am drinking broth and sugar free jello. Drinking water, G2 as well as a few sips of apple juice. afraid to drink too much. My doctor said he cut my stomach down to size of a plantain. He also did an endoscopy to make sure staples were good with the davinci robot.

Surgery part 2 performed 8/22/18
Had the second go Wednesday. Doctor said all went good. No issues with BP. He thinks it was the lisinopril. Couple of questions: anyone have a fav app to keep up with water consumption? When I drink cool fluids feeling a tightness as it goes down. Normal?

In absolute shock
Sorry for the delayed reply. Cardiologist recommended heart cath. Had that done through the arm (radial) instead of leg yesterday afternoon. No blockages!! He said all is good!! My blood pressure did drop again during the cath procedure to 51/26 and I felt like I was gonna pass out but he said that was due to something he injected in artery. Gave me something to combAt that and all was normal again. My arm is a little sore today and I’ve got to keep this pressure bandage on until 6:00 tonight. Headed Back to my Bariatric surgeon today for follow up.

In absolute shock
The anesthesiologist is a friend of mine and know exactly what y’all are saying. He stopped it for my best interest and I am grateful for him doing that. Praying all goes well at cardiologist Monday.

In absolute shock
So I go into surgery yesterday morning to only be woken up with the surgeon stating they had to stop because of my blood pressure plummeting and having an abnormal EKG. The anesthesiologist saw that my blood pressure was not rising properly with adjustment meds while they were cutting on me and a EKG that wasn’t looking right. They had everything prepared to start the procedure with the robot when the anesthesiologist told the surgeon to stop. Afterwards they did a cardiac enzyme count and it was normal they did another EKG and it was normal. I have to go to a cardiologist to be cleared before they will do the procedure. So now I sit here with seven holes in me and an abdomen full of gas and fluid as I gained 7 pounds from yesterday morning before the procedure to when I returned home around lunchtime with nothing to gain for it. The surgeon and the anesthesiologist think it may have something to do with the fact that I take lisinopril and they were not prepared for that. So now I have paid $17,000 cash to be cut on and nothing to show for it. By the way my liver looked marvelous according to the surgeon. He did ask me afterwards if I had a stress test before. I said no. He reacted surprised..... I know God has a plan. I just wish I knew what the plan was??

I found a protein shake on Amazon that has 40 grams of protein in each carton
I am drinking the LaBrada shakes pre-op and will be drinking them post op along with other avenues of protein, The chocolate tastes almost like a YooHoo. Salted caramel is ok too. NOT a fan of mocha.

Headed to surgery in the AM (0600)
I know I am VERY new to this great community but would appreciate any prayers given. I am excited yet nervous. Gotta be there early. The surgeon is calling everyone in earlier than normal tomorrow. My original time was 0645. Using the DaVinci system with the proctor present. See you all on the flip side.....

Having Sx on 7/27/18, protein question
Good Morning!! I am scheduled for gastric sleeve sx on Friday. I have been drinking Labrada protein shakes for a few days now but wanted to know what protein powder you all like to mix with flavored water, broth, sugar free pudding etc... as I look ahead. Also low/no sugar protein bars. I have been munching on a couple of Quest bars and One protein bars as a snack. Any favs/flavors?

Has anyone had surgery using Robotic Da Vinci?
I am having the procedure done with the DaVinci robot next Friday. My doc said that, like an earlier poster said, the arms have "joints" and can move more easily than the straight arm of the laparoscopic wand. Also in regards to the stapler, if the robot doesn't feel the adequate tissue needed, it will not staple.

Pre-Op Diet question
I understand. Was just curious why some are shakes and liquids two weeks before while others like me are not. I don’t want to be behind the 8 ball so to say.....

Pre-Op Diet question
Good evening all. I have noticed several on here that I have various pre-op diet regimens. My doctor has me on a sugar Buster diet up until two days before and then it’s all liquids. Is this normal? Has anyone else done this?

I'm in my early 40's and have dealt with weight issues my whole life. It is now affecting my lower back (sciatica) as well as dealing with BP issues. I'm just tired of dealing with it and am ready for a change. I have dieted, Nutri'System'ed it, and Weight Watched till I'm blue in the face. I enjoy good food but have come to an understanding that enjoying good food and having it in moderation are a problem. I have surgery with Dr. Bagnato on July 27th. I have started the Sugar Busters plan and will go to my pre-op this Wednesday (July 18). I have been reading many, many threads dealing with this procedure and feel that (along with my doctor) this is the course of action to take. I have a family that is very supportive but know that I will be on here ALOT to ask and to gleam info from. Thank you all for allowing me to participate. DK
