  1. Hey all! I just joined last week. I have my last pre-op appointment on July 31st, and surgery schedule for August 13th! Feeling lots of emotion and a little scared but know this is the best decision for me.../
  2. August 13th for me!!! Congrats everyone for getting their date :) what are you all doing to prepare for your surgery? I have been kind of eating whatever I want on vacation but I plan to get home and eat super nutrient dense food and lift weights to build muscle mass before surgery....
  3. Anyone else having surgery August 13th?? Or close?
  4. Thank you all for the replies! This makes me feel better. For those who did not do a pre-op diet, did you doctor tell you to eat in any specific way? Were you supposed to lose weight before surgery anyway?
  5. I have mine on August 13th! ahhh I am excited but a little nervous. What is everyone doing to prepare? I am thinking I will buy an assortment of like protein drinks and shakes and protein water....I plan to eat really well and go ahead and get in the habit of going to the gym a few days a week. I have kind of been eating and drinking whatever I wanted the last couple weeks, but am ready to go ahead and move into this healthy lifestyle :)
  6. Awesome! Thank you all for the good info and advice :) I am glad to know I am not the only one. I am on a vacation this week then i will have 5 weeks once I get home before surgery. I plan to eat very nutrient dense super healthy foods to prepare my body for surgery! And prepare my mind for what I will be eating after.
  7. Hey all, So I am confused.....I have a doctor who is very experienced and I feel very confident in.....but he told me that he does not need me to do a pre-op diet. My BMI is a little lower and I am Doing self pay, but I would still think this maybe would be necessary? Has anyone else had gastric sleeve without doing the pre-op liver shrinking diet?
  8. I am having surgery with Dr. Garber in New York City, he does single incision gastric sleeve surgery in the belly button that is “virtually scarless”. I am 31 and have a 32-33 BMI. He recommended I do the sleeve over lap band as he says they are falling out of favor due to complication risk. I don’t like the idea of a foreign device in my body. If I could have gotten a scarless gastric sleeve surgery when I was 21, I would have done it. It does not get any easier in your 30’s!!
  9. I do rent the runway unlimited, so instead of buying lots of things I will be able to rent new things in smaller sizes :) there are other companies that are similar. I have really liked it! Has helped me through my yo-yo dieting!!! However, that’s gonna be all over August 13th (gastric sleeve surgery date!)
  10. @jodi1980 thank you! :) it is, and it is literally done through one incision in the belly button....so no visible scar! I am going through the New York Bariatric group and Dr. Garber is doing my surgery. He is one of the most experienced in the single incision sleeve surgery.
  11. Wishing you all the luck!!! You will do great and I will be thinking of you :) I would love any info and advice and experience you have to share!
  12. Hey all! Sooooo I am very excited as I just got my surgery date-August 13t!!! I would love to connect with a surgery date buddy out there. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. While I have wanted to surgery for years, I finally started heavily researching it, and found a surgeon. Made an appointment one week, the next week went in for all the pre-op work, and now I have my surgery date! It was important for me to get a single incision gastric sleeve surgery. One of the only ones I could find was Dr. Garber in New York. I am flying in from KY and self paying for the surgery. So that's a big monetary commitment but honestly, I know this is the right decision for me. Just wondering if anyone else has had the single incision surgery? What was your experience like?
  13. My surgery date is August 13th also!!!! Ahhh I am so excited/nervous/I dont even know bc I have thought about doing this forever and it all happened so fast it does not even seem real. I am also self pay, and have been jumping through pre surgery hoops and just got my official surgery date on Thursday. I am gonna be BROKE after this but know it will be worth it! I really like my surgeon and his group also. I am 31 and unmarried, and it was important to me to get the single incision surgery because my scars do not heal well. What are you doing pre-op, ect?
