  1. Hi my name is Amy and I have been thinking about the getting the lap band as well. I have went to my first md appt for my weigh in for my medically supervised diet(required by insurance) I have attended the seminar and am so super psyched about the surgery! October/Nov 2008 is when I should get approval from insurance for surgery! I am 34 and I weight 258 and I am 5 ft 4 in. I am so looking forward to it. I am so ready to begin my new life.
  2. Thanks for the info! And, one more question since you know the ins and outs of BCBS MN. A friend of mine told me that the psych eval is not covered. Is that true? My friend told me that I should go see the surgeon first because they have people that can guide me in the right direction and tell me what I need to do.
  3. Hi! I am new to the process and I also have BCBS MN and I was wondering what steps you took to be approved. I talked to the ins co today and they do cover the surgery but I have to meet certain criteria-BMI over 40(mine is 43). 6 months of being on a medically supervised diet-is this through my primary? I saw you mentioned scheduling your six appts to the dietician. Please help. I dont even know where to start. Congratulations on your approval and thanks in advance.
  4. I just have a few questions for those of you who know a little more about the process. Ok I have found out from my insurance co that they do cover the lap band surgery if I meet certain criteria. Medically supervised weight loss plan for 6 months which I have not done. I guess overall I just need to know the correct steps to take because I was already thinking of going to talk to the surgeon...any advice will be helpful. Thanks
