  1. Hi, Im fairly new to this process. So far I have haf my initial consultation woth the surgeon, nirse and dietician. I was told that I would be able to get the sleeve in 3-4 months since Fidelis has no program requirement for approval. I have my psych appointment on May 22, my dietician appointment for June 5th, my pcp appointment (for medical necessity letter) on June 6th. I also have to get my labwork done, which I will be doing next week. In your experience, what else does Fidelis need to approve? Right now my only concern is my PCP approval letter, because he hasn't discussed much other than dropping to 1300 kcals a day in the past. I got pregnant shortly after that and had gestational diabetes and was on a GD diet per the endocrinologist. This is the first time I will be seeing him since before I had the baby (its been a little over a year). Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    July surgery

I'm officially improved through insurance! My date is July 25th, pre-admission July 19th! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I had my second dietician appointment today..lost 7 lbs! I have a letter of support (tomorrow), endoscopy (June 15), and my last dietician appointment (July 6), then it's off to the insurance company for pre-approval! Fingers crossed I have no issues getting a letter of support, and I don't drop anymore weight (I have to maintain or I drop my BMI to 39). Penciled in tentatively for July 23rd or July 30th. Started this Journey May 10th, man it's going fast! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Getting real!

I think the only reason mine went quick was because my insurance has no "waiting period", and I got everything done ASAP. They scheduled everything for me (excpet psych). I just got my letter of support, so my 2 lasts are the endo and my 3rd nutrition visit. I have to call tomorrow to make my pre-op pcp medical clearance. My new and official date is July 25. Fingers crossed I don't drop any weight between now and then. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Just starting out

I have Fidelis. You're so lucky you already got a date! I'm thinking (unless something goes south) I'll have a date after my endoscopy is done on the 15th. I'm nervous about the approval too. I can't really lose weight between now and then, and I'm not sure if the PCP has to send a current height/weight along with the letter. I'm trying to eat better but maintain weight, which is harder than it sounds. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Hi, I'm very excited to be here, and very new here but I appreciate the wealth of knowledge already. I went for my first appointment on 5/12/18, and have my endoscopy, psych, PCP and 2nd dietician appointments scheduled. The office said that I can get approved for surgery in 3-4 months, so I am hopeful I will be getting sleeved end of August, beginning of September. I am not required to lose weight to get approved (just can't gain weight). I currently have a 41 BMI and cant wait ro get it down to a healthy range. Anyone else brand new to this ENTIRE process? Day 1

I just started too! My orientation ways May 10th. I'm in the same situation as you, insurance had no time requirements. I had 8 things to do, and just knocked out the first 4. I have my clearance letter, support group, endoscopy and last dietitian appointment left. My other ones will be completed by June 15th. Good Luck!

    Just starting out

Nice meeting you too! I just did my blood work and had my psych exam today. I'm super excited about it. My psych test went well and she'll be sending that information off hopefully today, but no later than Friday. I just have my 2nd dietitian appointment, group support meeting, pcp clearance letter and endoscopy left. All of that will be done by June 15th, so hopefully I will find out a surgery date soon. Fingers crossed no follow ups will be needed!

    Tricare Ropeadope?!

Not with WLS, but when I had an IUD put in tricare was supposed to cover it, but didn't. I had to put a call in to both tricare and the hospital to get it smoothed over. I was out of standard tricare area (went back home to have the baby when my husband got deployed). Check the regulations, the hospital had to eat the bill in the end because the dr. That performed the implant did accept tricare even though tricare (supposedly) didn't cover IUD's. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
