Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
You know what is pissing me off? My phone ringing off the hook! The pharmacy calling to check on me, the nurse calling to check on me, my insurance company calling me (WTF ?!- I'm self pay!), my leave of absence company calling to confirm dates, the pharmacy calling again to thank me for my business. All of this in ONE day. Can a person not just recover in peace?!

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
I was told that anything I took had to be small enough to fit both ways through a straw, otherwise they need to be crushed. If I cut them into quarters to swallow, I had to spread it out over the course of four “sips”. (I was on a plan of 1 ounce every 15 minutes my first couple days home) This is what I was doing in the hospital and the easiest way to get them down. I think I'm going to have to continue and see how it goes. I just cannot crush them anymore. I wish they made my meds in a liquid form - that would be so much easier!!

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. Do they think you might be dehydrated?

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
I feel so good today because I crashed hard yesterday! Pain meds gave me a solid two hour nap and then I fell asleep easily at 8:30 and didn’t wake until 6:30. It’s amazing what a good nights rest can do.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Question for you all. In the first two weeks post surgery, did anyone not crush up their pills? I have both the hospital meds and my own personal meds to take. Crushing them up without food is absolutely disgusting. I cut them up into tiny pieces in the hospital and swallow them with no problem but the nurse said I may not absorb those as well. I definitely need to absorb my seizure meds as well as possible.

Hey all. Had surgery early this morning. Now in my room having “lunch”. Only pain is the gas pressure in my belly. But I am so groggy and tired. Hoping my jello will wake me up. Lol

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
Woo Hoo Ladies - I'm nearly 12 hours away from my surgery. I have to check in at 5:30am so I'm going to go to bed as early as possible tonight. I did one final kickboxing workout this morning so hoping that will help put me to sleep later on. I've been wrapping up all sorts of errands to get things done before my surgery. Grocery shopping and meal planning for the family is done. Did a bunch of laundry and left some instructions for the hubby. I'm so grateful that I can afford someone to clean my house and they'll be coming while I'm in the hospital so I get to come to a completely clean and clutter free home. Ready to go!!!

Air Fryer - Yay or Nay?
I know they are fabulous but this isn’t a thread about whether I should buy one or not. The question is how well do bariatric patients do with eating food from an Air Fryer? What’s your experience? Every non-bariatric person I know loves theirs. But I’ve seen several articles lately discussing how the end product is not good for those that have had WLS as the food isn’t as tender or smooth as it should be. Most articles referred to items with crunchy outsides. So, thoughts?

I’m getting ready. Off work now so doing some “meal” planning and taking care of stuff around the house so I don’t have to worry about that later. What about you?

Pre-Op Diet: Muscle Spasms?
So I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet, protein shakes only. Just today I've started getting muscle spasms...but it's in the weirdest place. It's in my right hand between my thumb and index finger. It makes my index finger involuntarily move. It's weird. Not concerning, just funny.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
And while I'm on a rant let me just say men are so flipping dense sometimes. I blasted my husband again this morning because of his BS 'I might not be able to take you home for the hospital' statement. He apologized and said he would talk to his boss. That was at 9am this morning. I don't hear from him ALL day...except just now at 4pm he leaves me a voicemail about some inane stuff and then says "Hope you had a good day" Ummm...I would have had a good day if you had given me ANY indication that you were actually going to step up and be there for me in my time of need. UGH!!!

I can see that. I'm sure you'll be fine if it's doctor ordered! I'd like to go straight to the mashed potato and gravy stage.
