  1. Updates updates!! Hopefully everyone is well. I am post RNY 2/7/18 and have lost 14lbs since then. I feel like I am going slow, but then I look at the progress 20days out and 14lbs lost. Keeping positive, for sure mind hunger is annoying. I am afraid of trying soft foods come tomorrow. Idk why I have been doing everything the way I should be and feel like I should be losing more weight so can’t imagine putting different foods in (just being inpatient I guess). I see my doctor next week and I am hoping he will clear me for work and exercising. I don’t want to over do anything but I want to take advantage of my tool as much as I can to be as successful as I can. Anyways enough about me..... how is everyone doing? WL STATS 5’6” HW:298lbs SW: 260lbs (RNY 2/7/18) CW: 246lbs GW: 170lbs
  2. Welcome.... how are you doing with your journey?
  3. That’s nice ugh nope I had to start my regime day 8 post op...
  4. Thanks... they were working fine. Just yesterday I could not swallow it. And my doctor says anything bigger than a dime size is to big to swallow so I made sure to get tiny pills. It just freaked me out because it wouldn’t go down almost like I had something blocking it and came right back up. Hurt so bad. I will try and crush it to go with my yogurt.
  5. Congrats... I have a question for all the post surgery peeps. I am having issues swallowing my medications (surgery was 19 days ago) If i do manage to swallow it , it hurts really bad. This problem started yesterday- anyone experiencing similar issues?
  6. Milk of Magnesia works miracles just make sure you drink some water afterwards get it going.... I will say that decaf has been helping me get going to with protein premier milk mixed in. I do Miralax everyday 4oz water with the recommended dosage then if I do not go by day 3 I use MOM. It gets uncomfortable for sure. I take MOM at night and usually wake up and have to go sometime in the morning. If you do not want to use MOM, try some Greek yogurt (helped me too). I was RNYed 2/7 so I feel you.
  7. Congrats! Keep it up.... it will get better.....
  8. Happy for you keep it up...... I am rooting for everyone’s success including mine....
  9. Updates people? hope everyone is doing good.
  10. Since some of you have had surgery..... just checking in to see how everything went and also checking in to see how everyone else is doing in general?
  11. I have been doing decaf with caramel protein premier. The color of my coffee is very light and creamy. I have had no issues. I also don’t drink it hot it is iced decaf. I was told no caffeine or carbonated drinks ever period.
  12. Surgery is a tool. You determine how to use it. Go back to your liquid and purée phases. Measure your food and exercise. You can do this. Remind yourself why you wanted to do this. Stick to 3 meals a day no snacks. Drink plenty of fluids nothing over 10 calories unless if it is protein induced. Don’t beat yourself up... you are doing great. You are only 8 months out. 18 month is the mark according to my doctor by month 18 you either lost to your goal weight or not but either way you must have lost some. Although first year is crucial because your body is adapting and you are learning new habits. Just kick yourself into start mode. Good luck!
  13. I had RNY 2/7/18 and I am physically drained. Idk might me possible with it being a sleeve but reminder it is major surgery. Mentally I am ready to go to work but physically I don’t think I could do it. Good luck hopefully all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.
  14. Yay! Keep us posted... you can do it and everyone else good luck to you all. Remember no pain no game!!! You all will do great!
  15. I was approved 6 weeks as well with short term. Everyone at my job knows too. I work in a hospital so for me the decision to tell people was a no brained. Not super excited about telling the world but if they ask I will be honest because this was not an easy decision nor the fastest solution. Everyday is a challenge mentally and physically. I agree with you on educating people. My son has learned the most from me. The other day he looked at the back of a box to look at ingredients and calories. He said okay I am going to have 2 pieces for 70 calories. It felt amazing because he did that on his own at 9years old.
  16. Hello all.... brief update had a very painful night and painful start to today. I am getting the dreaded muscle pains next to the belly button. Apparently, it is from the middle incision above my belly button because of the stitches in the muscle, they tend to pull when healing. Never thought healing would hurt- ouch! The pain is about 3-4inches to the right of my belly button. If I twist, bend, stretch, or whatever it spasms and feels like I am being stabbed or they are ripping through my flesh. It is so painful. Any of you experiencing this yet?
  17. I lost 10lbs too. Yay! Just be happy the scale is going in the right direction.
  18. Jennifer.... it will get better my first couple of days I regretted everything, but then looked in the future. I am post op 15 days and I have good and bad days. The pain is liking gas pain. Gas X chewables are wonderful to have and help so much. Also, burping hurts so bad feels like a heart attack. Congrats on surgery and I am sorry everything hurts just keep trying.... I promise it will get better. Focus on liquid intake because dehydration is the worst and very painful. Protein is going to come from your liquid intake at this point. Are you a coffee drinker? If so, decaf mixed with caramel protein premier is delightful and 30g of protein per premade drink. Or what kind of drinks do you like? Protein premier makes a clear water that tastes really good... it is too sweet for me so I split it in half and add half water and it helps get in 10g to 20g of protein. Do you like yogurt? Dannon light smoothies are delicious with 9g of protein. Are you a milk drinker? Fairlife is great with 13g of protein per serving. Get creative and don’t be afraid to try stuff. You will either like it or not. You could make your own protein popsicles as well. I had to get really creative and still am. I am doing my purée phase and Power Pudding is my life saver for days I just can’t eat anything. Let me know if I can help you with anything.
  19. I don’t mind it as long as I water it down I do half and half. If it’s not watered down..... nope no way I am doing it lol most protein drinks after taste is yucky to me.
  20. Had mine last week 2/7..... if your belly has pain because mine was tender I would sleep with a pillow I could hug to provide security to my belly. Also, if you have a recliner that will be your best friend. Take your meds as you will need it and it will help, but be prepared to be constipated. I received gabapentin for nerve pain- did you?
  21. What!!! Wait 3 flavors..... where at?
  22. Exactly the one FluffyChix is talking about. It is pre-made and it reminds me or vitamin water or SobeLife water. Life saver when you are tired of those protein shakes. Not as much protein but water alone has none..... I get them at Sams for about $19 a case or 12 and since I split them each case makes 24 bottles of 10g of protein each.
  23. I had RNY gastric bypass just recently. I don’t get the hungry sensation in my stomach ( you know growling and noises ) but my brain tells me to eat eat eat and I just ignore it or drink fluids. It is very much a mental issue, because I am so new to this process. I am measuring my food out and weighing it just to get in the habit of eating less for once I am further out. If I finish it, I finish it and if I don’t I don’t, but after 30 mins I discard it and I don’t drink anything while I eat. I agree with what the post above says in regards to actual hunger and mental hunger. Just do your best and talk your feelings. Remember why you did this in the first place. It is a very difficult journey, but just remind yourself everyday and push through. I hope things get better for you.
