  1. My NUT gave me some recipes to make homemade protein bars and I’m looking for some more recipes or store bought ones. Any recommendations?
  2. I’m one month post op! The last week or two I haven’t been getting much protein down due to not being able to hold diary or creamy based protein drink and it’s kicking me in the butt now so I’m back on track and focused for success! I’ve tried the isopure protein juices, no good yuck. I couldn’t stomach it. I know I don’t NEED to like it but I wanna atleast drink something that doesn’t make me dry heave lol. I bought the Isopure unflavored protein! I’ve added it to my fruit and veggie smoothies so far, I’ve heard people just mix it in with their water or water + crystal light. What are some of your favorite things to put it in to meet your protein requirements?
  3. That’s awesome to hear! You’re doing great! It gets alittle better everyday. I had strips on my incisions that came off in a week and I was told not to pull them no matter how close they are to falling off and to get a cup of water and antibacterial soap and just run it over your belly a few times then rinse and pat dry.
  4. I couldn’t have said it better! Thank you very much!
  5. I had my sleeve done laparoscopically. I thought everyone got one. It helped a lot for me personally
  6. I was drinking decaf before but now I drink half decaf/half regular. I didn’t even think about it I probably shouldn’t have regular coffee. Today is the first time I’m having it in months
  7. I was provided with one at the hospital. The one the hospital gives you is always kind of bulky I know some people use waist trainers because they’re think but those are usually EXTREMELY tight and not recommended to wear for long periods of time
  8. YES!!!! I’ve been doing the same and it’s so good! That and folding my legs up on a chair. Weird little things like that keep me going
  9. I’m one month post-op on my sleeve. My dietitian and nutritionist said that after weight loss surgery everything in your body changes in all ways, shapes and forms! I’ve notice with me that I can’t have dairy anymore (can hold it down but I feel crappy after), my body has a weird reaction to coffee, and weirdest thing that I found out was common is when I eat too fast or too much my nose starts running. So just curious, What are some weird body habits you have now post-op?
  10. Are you on medication for pain and/or nausea?
  11. Sometimes I get pain but not pinching or pulling I just get sore
  12. I don’t remember how long you’re supposed to keep it on for I think I wore mine for two weeks just to be safe so it’s not too late to get one. Call your surgeons office and ask them for info
  13. Oh yikes I’ve never heard of someone not being sent home with a binder. It is an undergarment (usually Velcro to adjust) for compression and it’s also protects the incision and makes it so you don’t put strain on your stomach makes it alittle tougher to bend down. It looks like this!
  14. I’m one month post-op and I don’t need to wear my binder anymore for my incisions however I like wearing it to the gym and for work (I have a very physical job, up and down ladders, lifting and bending down). I like the support it gives me. Anyone else do this?
  15. I’m 27 days post-op from my sleeve and I’m currently on soft foods. I was just wonder if anyone has advice on what the average calorie intake is the first month or two. Right now I’m eating about 250-300 calories a day. I go to the gym every other day and I’m on light cardio (cycling, elliptical, treadmill) for the next few weeks and I burn about 200 calories there. Should I be eating more or less calories a day? I feel fine and I’m down 34 pounds since October 3rd. Just wondering what everyone else is doing
  16. That’s so weird that you said that cause I’ve been having a runny nose when I get nauseous! I thought I was just getting sick
  17. I’m 26 days post op and am on soft foods right now but it seems that anytime I eat or try to reintroduce something to my body I throw up. Two nights ago I had some mashed sweet potatoes and I got a few spoons in then started throwing up. Then today I had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup (which I’ve had recently no problem) but I’m today I immediately threw up after getting half of the cup down in about 35-40 minutes. Maybe I’m eating too fast or eating too much? Im freaking myself out and think maybe I should go to the hospital but everyone’s told me if I was gonna have a leak I would have had it by now and the likelihood of me having a leak now is low.
  18. Another mini update, now that I’m on pureeds I feel a lot better and with the fuel I’m getting from food it’s easier for me to get up and get out of the house to go hit the gym. And with this energy I’m finding joy in things i used to do! I’m going to a concert tomorrow with my best friend and I’m starting to paint and draw again
  19. Thank you everybody for the kind words. I’m getting alittle bit better everyday but will be seeking counseling again soon hopefully. I’m on my puréed stage now and I feel better getting some food into my body for energy. Putting some life into me haha
  20. Not nutrition to meet full size adult needs but just a way to get in some extra fruits and veggies into your diet. What I️ bought was a baby rice cereal/oatmeal, almost like a cream of wheat. I was told by my nutritionist and dietitian that it’s okay to eat. It’s nothing compared to me eating a bowl of rice
  21. I’m currently on my puréed stage of my post-op diet. I’m enjoying hummus and mushed avocado along with unsweetened apple sauce. I was told to give baby food a try for more nutrients and flavors. So far I’ve bought (have not tried yet) apple and oats baby rice (apple sauce consistency) and those squeeze bags of fruits and vegetables mix. Not really looking for anything savory but something yummy. What are some good recommendations?
  22. I have an iPhone and it’s glitching just know that all the weird characters are suppose to be the letter “I” (eye) it won’t let me type it
  23. I had my sleeve done on October 17th. I’m one of the young sleevers, I️ turned 19 this year and have been dreaming about this surgery forever and I’m very happy and grateful that I️ was blessed to be able to get it done and I’m down 30 pounds since October 3rd! I’ve had a lot of anxiety and severe depression since I was about 15/16 years old and am still medicated for it today. Most days I have it under control and I’m stable (those with depression or anxiety can relate just people you’re on medicine doesn’t mean everyday is perfect) . I like to go out and have fun so being post-op I’m not used to staying home because I just don’t feel good. I feel like just normal post-op nausea, gas and all that jazz along with post-op blues and depression are eating me up recently. I feel like I’m having major regrets because I just never feel good physically or mentally. I’m a full time student and I work, I’m trying to see if going back to therapy would help. But also since I was really young I’ve always used food as a coping mechanism and that turned into binge eating problems. I’m thinking maybe it could be that and just changing my relationship with food.
  24. Title is supposed to say “DIET” but it won’t seem to let me change it lol
  25. Hello! I got my gastric sleeve done on October 17th. I’ve been on full liquids for 4.5 weeks (2 pre-op, 3 post-op). Because I’ve been on this liquid diet for so long since my surgery I cannot stomach the yogurt or jello that I’m allowed to eat so I’ve mainly been on protein, water and soup. I’m supposed to start my puréed diet on Monday but I’ve been able to hold down puréed foods now for the last 2-3 days. Last week I started blending up my soups and I was able to keep that down with no discomfort, nausea or severe dumping. Yesterday I mashed up some avocado with lime and alittle salt and ate about two tablespoons (took me 30-45ish minutes but it got me full). Today I’m going to work and on my puréed diet I can have eggs and I wanted to make myself some scrambled eggs with skim milk because it’s easy and convenient. I should be good right? I felt bad even mashing up that avocado cause I was worried about messing up my new stomach but I had no problem and I actually felt really good getting some nutrients into my body
