  1. Who's my surgery twin??? I got approved on Friday 03/08/2018 [emoji4] I found out before my surgeons office because I called my insurance even though it had only been 3 days that day since the authorization request was put in. To my surprise they had already made a decision by day 2! On 03/12/2018 it was scheduled for April 19. Wow.. I was so excited! Now ofcourse naturally I am also a tad bit nervous for after surgery body reactions. Back in 08/2015 I was 418 lbs found out i am diabetic got on metformin and I decided to lose weight, I lost 138 lbs in a little over a year and my A1C dropped to 5.2. I kept the weight off but by 05/2017 I had gained back around 50 lbs. My August 2017 I decided ok it's time to get the surgery, it all worked out because my insurance requires 3 years of medical documentation, 2 of which have to be documented that I was trying to lose weight which I met this requirement since I didn't start going to the doctor until 2015. I had to do 6 months of monthly weigh ins (really 7 since the first one doesn't count and yeah I know some people wait a year!) But this weigh in process actually got me to the 3 years worth of documentation since my last weigh in wasn't until February 2018. I'm down 111 lbs now so although I haven't been able to get back down 138 lbs I'm back on track but March 17 is my birthday so I'm going to eat some cake while I can! 9. I got my surgery date on Monday , I was excited but now I am nervous too. Thinking about the sacrifices I'll have to make and changes but I have to keep telling myself about the big picture . The big picture of a healthier life. With sacrifices comes huge gain of getting our lives back. I lost a good amount of weight already prior to this surgery and can tie my shoes without getting out of breath , I can walk a bit more now, fit into clothes better , I snore less. Those are just a few things we don't even realize sometimes that are effecting us and our way of living. So counter those negative thoughts with all the positive possibilities. I am looking forward to hopefully going sky diving, fitting in a seat for roller coasters , being able to walk at the amusement park, buying clothes that cost less because of sizing (you know plus size clothes can get expensive fast lol ). Remember you're beautiful already and worth change that can better your life . It's going to be a struggle and that's the scary part but we'll make it through ! Congratulations on getting your surgery date . Mine is April 19. We got this girl! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

  15. Hello Everyone, I haven't had surgery yet but I am in my third month of weigh ins (180 days required for my insurance). I started off at 418 in 2015 and I was diagnosed with diabetes so I decided i needed to get my lifestyle together. I lost 138 lbs on my own ( down to 280 lbs) but after that I gained 50 lbs back this year. It was at that moment that i hopped on the scale that I realized that I needed help to continue to try to be healthy and live a better life. I didnt start having knee pain until after losing weight (crazy right?) My doctor thinks i must have went to the gym too much and because i became so active my knees started to feel the weight on them more. My knees have been hurting so bad since then. I haven't got back down to 280 I keep fluctuating been 323-316. My hopes are that in March or April I'll be approved to have surgery. I know this is big lifestyle change and i did okay on my own but scared to gain all that weight back and I can't do this on my own anymore, I have so much more weight I need to lose. Ive done so much research on what an impact this surgery does especially when following a healthy lifestyle. Ive been struggling all my life with my weight and this is the best decision for me to keep motivated to become a healthier and happier me. My doctor is okay with me having the sleeve or the bypass. My mind has been weighing the pros and cons of both. Im leaning towards the bypass but some days i change my mind. What was the biggest factor in making this decision between the two? If you already had the surgery how's it going for you and what type did you have? Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Before the surgery

I recently quoted the same quote by Michael Phelps! My surgeon is fine with either of the two, I was hoping he'd have an actual recommendation. Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app

I initially thought the same way, go all the way with it. The dumping syndrome is what I'm scared of, like I still just want birthday cake on my birthday but maybe just give up the cake Sent from my SM-G920T using BariatricPal mobile app
