  1. Hey Dropit, I was in pretty much the same sinking boat. I am 5'7" and weighed 363 when I made the call on July 1. I had my surgery last Thur. by Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. It was a piece of cake. Really an non event for me. I had the surgery Thurs. morning and didn't even stay at the clinic that night. I am on day 6 of clear liquids and am feeling good. I am down 43 lbs. since July 1. I never had any gas pains or really any pain at all. We went to the San Diego Zoo and Old town on Sat., flew home on Sun. and back to work like nothing happened on Mon. So far, I have no complaints at all. I just keep waiting for something bad though, but good luck to you.
  2. Thanks Angelyco, I have been to it quite a few times, but it really doesn't get very much activity. Maybe I can add to it, but I really am just a lurker. I do enjoy reading people's post though.
  3. I have been reading posts for a while and am finally ready to commit to lap band surgery. This forum has been very helpfull in my decision making. My Mom, 2 Aunts and my sister have all had gastric bypasses and done very well with them, but I think the lap band will do me good. One thing about this forum and others, it seems to be mostly the gals who are the most active on the message boards. I am sure many men have had this procedure done, and surely there are others like me who would like to hear their take. Even though my insurance is through a local hospital, they have a written exclusion for weight loss surgery, even though my dr. supports it, so I think I will be heading to TJ. I am going to make the call on Friday and I hope this will be the first step to a different me. Thanks.
