    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Hey August 2017 sleevers ... how are you all doing? Today is anniversary + 3 weeks (I was sleeved on Aug 22, 2017) and today was a HUGE milestone: I reached normal BMI. I've officially lost 102.8 pounds with a BMI of 24.8. I'm so frickin' excited I can't stand it!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Everyone is looking SO fantastic! My anniversary date (1 year) was on Aug 22. I've lost 101 pounds and am 1 measly pound away from "normal BMI". That pound is stubborn! My husband's 1 year anniversary is on Sep 12 and he's lost 113 pounds. Here are some before and after pics of us. The before pic was taken in Feb 2016 and is combined with an after pic taken this February (2018). The pic with the bikes was taken just this past weekend. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results! You are all so inspiring!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Go, August Sleevers! I'm anywhere between 2-4 pounds from a "normal" BMI ... I keep fluctuating because of things like cashews as well. My surgeon just wants me at normal BMI, which is 141 lbs. I wanted to go to 130 lbs, but I'd be happy with 135, which I think will be my new goal. I still track food in MFP. It helps keep me honest. Love reading everyone's posts, whether they're cheering or needing some support. We all need to cheer and get support at some time in this journey. Especially love seeing the pictures. You're all fantastic people on a wonderful journey -- keep it up!

Very close to my stats! HW: 243, SW: 200, CW: 152 ... and I've barely lost anything in the last 2 months. Total plateau. I have 22 pounds to go but nothing is moving. Maybe I need to go back on a liquid diet for a week and see if that resets me.

I've given away at least 30 bags of clothing ... I don't have much now (can't buy EVERYTHING at once) but at least what I have fits!

Not yet ... I know I need to do strength training, but I haven't been able to fit it into my schedule yet. In the meantime, my running coach is giving me some strength exercises to do at home. Have I done them at home yet? Not quite! :-|

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I run about 3 times a week and bicycle once a week. I'm not really an athlete, so I work with a running/cycling coach to keep my honest :-) If I don't have a commitment to someone else, I won't do it. (Because if I was good at committing to myself, I'd have lost the weight long ago! LOL!)

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Thanks so much! I definitely journal daily (using MyFitnessPal), which helps me immensely. The biggest thing, though, is that I follow a keto diet: (very) low carbs, moderate protein and high fat. I've been doing that since last March and lost 43 pounds prior to surgery and all the rest through yesterday. My husband and I do this together, which is also very helpful. We are committed to a more active lifestyle as well -- we run and bike a few times during the week. To help us keep to that commitment, we work out with our charity team (Team Challenge). This means we get to see friends every week and keep moving. We're adding strength training to our routine this month. Keto is also recommended by our nutritionist (but strangely enough, our surgeon is still on the "low-fat" wagon -- we just nod when we talk to him!). Keto has been a life saver for my husband and me. Oh, I should mention that I'm still on an 800-calorie diet, but I don't watch the calories so much. I watch the carb intake, which I try and keep to less than 30g per day. You're doing great! You're very close to your goal weight, which is fantastic! 2018 is going to be your year! Good luck!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Happy New Year, August Sleevers! I hope 2018 brings you much joy and happiness. Monday is my normal weigh-in day and today I actually weigh what's written on my driver's license, LOL! That's a first since college many, many years ago. The other day I went into a store that I would never have gone into before (a little specialty boutique in my neighborhood) and actually bought some fun dresses there. I was shocked they fit! Here are a before/after picture. I had already lost about 15-20 pounds in my before picture. I'm the one on the left. The after picture is trying on one of the dresses I bought at that boutique. Getting sleeved was the best thing I've ever done!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Hey fellow Aug Sleevers ... it sounds like you're all doing so good! Yeah, a few stalls. Yeah, a few unpleasant moments with eating real food, but overall ... we're losing weight! I was sleeved on Aug 22 and am pretty much eating anything these days (within reason). Has anyone eaten a green salad yet? I'm dying for something like a salad but was wondering if anyone had any big problems with it? Hugs to you all!

    Endurance sports post surgery?

Hi all ... what kind of fuel do you take in before/during a race? Seems like carb loading is not quite in the diet ... Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

I had my sleeve on 8/22. I'm on puréed foods now. I made the baked ricotta and it was delicious! My husband had an idea to steam broccoli and add small bacon bits and some bacon fat to it, then purée it. Must say, it's delicious! We follow a keto diet, so the fat is great for us.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I was sleeved on 8/22. I had a horrible reaction to the anesthesia and threw up and dry heaved for hours. Thankfully I was still in the hospital, so they kept adding anti-nausea meds to my IV. By the late evening, I felt much better. I still had gas pains in my chest, as well as coughing up some phlegm, but that was most likely due to the breathing tube. I've been home now for a week and am having trouble drinking enough water ... or anything for that matter. I've been using a timer set at 5 minutes and every 5 minutes I take a sip of something -- water, tea, protein drink, whatever -- but I really, really feel full all the time. I've also had some cramps that come along with being constipated. This morning it was horrendous, but it finally resolved itself (as it were!). I've gone poo twice since surgery. I personally can't understand how I can have a poo when I'm only drinking liquids, LOL! Good luck to us all ... it's tough but definitely worth it!
