  1. I spoke with Christine once or twice right at the beginning and she was really great! Fingers crossed for you for early Feb, and in the meantime enjoy the holidays! Have a NYE cocktail for me!
  2. You've got this! You're almost there and then you'll think how fast it all went by!
  3. I'm also scheduled for surgery (RNY) on 12/28! No pre-op diet for me, except for the day before surgery. Best of luck to you!
  4. ****'s getting real! I'm in for the 28th!
  5. Thank you! Hopefully you're all set soon and get scheduled for early Feb! One thing I've learned in this journey, and that you've posted about here and on the FB page, you have to be your own advocate. For me, I was lucky enough to pull in one of my Dr's secretary as my advocate too. She has had my back every step of the way and she is the sole reason I was able to be scheduled when I wanted to. I had three different people tell me yesterday it would be a month until my surgery, and I just nodded and smiled because she told me not to worry, she had me. Sure enough, when the Dr. came in he said "we're not going to wait for your blood work to come back. We've got you in on the 28th." Total and complete gratitude that I found a personal ally in his office.
  6. That's fantastic progress! Congrats! I just got confirmed for the 28th! Yay!!
  7. Prayers that all goes smoothly!
  8. And how is your recovery going?!
  9. I'm sure i'll be updating later on today!
  10. Pre-surgery appointment later this morning where I will get my surgery date. It still looks like a December surgery. Fingers crossed!
  11. Panic is over. I'm going in today to see the surgeon for my pre-op visit. New nerves will set in in a week or so no doubt!
  12. I called Dr. Stafford’s office. They want to have me see him tomorrow for pre surgical appt but can’t schedule me until that’s in. They’re the ones who told me it’s usually available to them right away. ( But they did NOT suggest anything was wrong.) Hopefully it comes through this morning.)
  13. Upper GI results are in to the surgeon's office, but the EKG results are not, and I guess they are usually fairly immediate. My last EKG was about 8 months ago and all was well, but I'm totally paranoid that it's delayed because something is wrong.
  14. It was really quick. I was in and out for both the upper GI and the EKG in under 20 minutes total. They did both in the same room. (They were able to see my reflux as it happened and my hiaital hernia, which was kind of interesting.) I expect to see the surgeon on Wednesday and set a date for surgery. Still aiming for the 28th. Fingers crossed!
  15. Yes that's right! I forgot that they DO have them in large quantities, just not the smaller ones. Thanks for posting that!
  16. By the way, for those of you seeking out Gas X Strips for post surgical gas....it appears they have discontinued that product so supplies are limited. I couldn't get any online or in store at a pharmacy (or Amazon). I had to go to EBay. There is still a question if my order is going to ship or if this seller will be the second one to have run out.
  17. Pre-op testing this morning. No food or drink after midnight and oohhhhh the dry mouth! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly this morning!
  18. At least the time will fly by! I have my pre-op testing on Monday. Sh*t's getting real!
  19. Fantastic! That’s when you were hoping for right? Given that it’s the holiday season this month will fly by!
  20. Since I know I'm not going to commit to tracking my food religiously until surgery, how about we start then? (That way you're not the only one posting about food with me going "oh neat!" or "that sounds good!") Fingers crossed I have surgery at the end of the month......
  21. Did you start a new thread? I can't find it!
  22. Another addition to my "questions for the doctor" notes!
  23. I'm especially worried about smelly breath! I periodically get reasonably bad post nasal drip, which causes it's own bad breath. (Hello, right now is awful!) At least right now I can chew gum, suck on mints, etc. What can I do after surgery to help with the bad breath? The rest...well...I'll learn to be stinky for however long it takes.
  24. Definitely! I called frequently throughout the process. I actually expected they would get annoyed with me but they've really been quite wonderful. I absolutely agree that things move more quickly when you stay on top of the appointments and scheduling. As you said Brai, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, I think it's just human nature. I hope your testing comes through for you today!
