  1. Yes advocate for yourself. It's hard when your in pain to keep on top. But you have too. I agree to see you family doctor also. Keep family doctor informed. For me personally I thought my surgeon knew everything. And that wasn't the case. My family doctor was helpful. Also is your iron low? Anemic? Ask to see hematologist.   2. That's what I had too. Hopefully the meds will help. Hernia are no joke. I get it. It's frustrating and your in pain. You just want it to go away and do t want to do anything that will make it worse. At least that's how I felt when when I was going through my ordeal.
