I'm sure like everyone else, I have tried every diet known on the planet.  While some of them worked, it was never a true lifestyle change and the weight always came back on.  The last attempt, I lost 50 pounds, but gained 65 as soon as I went off.  The weight has really started to affect my way of life.  Even on the heavier side, I would still go biking and hiking and spend time with my husband and daughter.  The last couple of years, the aches and pains are getting worse and my energy has hit an all time low.  My parents, sisters, aunts and uncles (on both sides!) have all struggled with their weight.  I watch as knees and hips are being replaced and the extended recovery time they have to endure all because of the weight.  There may be a knee or hip replacement in my future and I don't want to put additional stress on myself or my family.  Plus, I miss the bike rides and the hiking.  And my daughter is a ball of energy that I really need to be able to keep up with!
My surgery will be scheduled soon - in the next couple of weeks - and I really wanted to join a support group.  Unfortunately, they are not as widespread as I thought they would be.  I am hoping that I will be able to find the support and answers to my questions here.
