  1. Was wondering if anyone has any tips/advice for dealing with "Timed Release" or other capsules/pills that can't be crushed. How do you deal with it ?
  2. How Do you feel about your choice to get banded ??? Please Vote ! Sorry i posted this by mistake in Intro section as well. My Story Hi, I'm new to the community and am scheduled to get banded on May the 13th !!! Soooo nervous and excited at the same time. Would really like to hear from some of you about your experiences. Does anyone here regret going through with the surgery ? My biggest worries is that I may regret the surgery for the following reasons: 1) I may feel frustrated with having a foreign object telling me what I can and cannot eat (unable to eat foods like red meat, past and rice the rest of my life). 2) Feeling like an impostor in front of other people because I have something inside myself that I am hiding from other people. Like I will always be carrying around this embarrassing secret with me... What do you think about my thoughts ? BTW I am 23 years old and in college :biggrin2:
  3. Was wondering what one experiences with an unfilled band. Is it like you don't have anything there at all or do you feel a restriction even when its unfilled ? I'm curious because if I ever decide to remove band it might be easier to just have it unfilled.
  4. For those that removed lapband for reasons other than erosion or slippage did the band have any permanent affect on your stomach. Did your stomach go back to normal ? If not what did you experience ?
  5. Any Major Hospital. You are in the Medical Heartland of America. I would call Brigham & Women's Hospital. They are the most knowledgeable about Lapland in Boston.
  6. I don't know about neosporin, but i would definitely not leave your wound untreated. That is pretty dangerous. At least put some anti bacterial/septic that you know you are not allergic to. take bandage off. clean AROUND the wound with iodine and put a light layer of anti-bacterial/septic on and in it. Cover it up with a clean large band aid. Contact doctor if it gets worse. Keep us posted !
  7. Don't know about helping you save money because this is expensive stuff. However the best kind of of high quality and quick digestion protein available is micro filtered whey protein isolate. It is tasteless and mixes clear in Water. It can be added to anything to make it an extremely powerful source of protein. The site I use customizes your powder any way that you want it; 15 different flavors to choose from including flavorless, any choice of sweetener you want and they can also add minerals and Vitamins as well. Hope this helps. True Protein | High Quality Nutrition and Protein supplements If you want something less expensive there is always Cold Filtered, and ion exchange whey isolate. Cheaper still is Whey protein concentrate. good luck !
  8. That is good to hear. No I have not even gotten a band yet. I just wanted to know that if I did remove it, would my stomach go back to normal. How long did u have urs in ?
  9. Sorry to hear you had to have yours removed. Is everything alright now ? Hope you feel better :-)
  10. Ok, the reason I made this thread is because I was under the impression that bandsters have trouble swallowing pills, and so I wanted to know what are the alternatives used, especially for those pills that are timed released (where it is more complicated). I gather from the responses to this thread that, swallowing pills is not such a big challenge for u guys? If this is the case then sorry for the useless thread :huh2:
  11. Yes, I found this poll very helpful as well :biggrin2:

    100lbs. gone forever! :D

Hi Tim, your thread was very inspirational to me. I am 23, 6 feet tall and weigh 314 lbs (similar to your stats it seems). I will be banded in a month and my goal is reach the 190 lbs mark. It would be great if you could share any specific advice on what helped you to lose the weight in such a short space of time ie. type of food, type of exercise, certain motivating techniques etc. Thanks for sharing your pics and Congratulations !
  13. Wow, such wonderful human beings on this board. I am really touched by all of your optimism and compassion. Thank you all of you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with me. I have done some serious soul searching this past month and I have come to the conclusion that even with the possible side-effects that I may incur from this band, the rewards are definitely worth it. Also I feel i am ready to start facing this illness head on. I hope to be speaking to you all more and learning more about what it means to be a "bandster"
