  1. I had my band to sleeve revision on June 22nd. I lost 23 pounds as of July19th, but for 4 weeks now I have lost and gained the same 4 pounds. I walk more than I did before and I am down 45 pounds since June 1 when I started the preppy diet. I upped my calories to about 900-1100 per day from 500 or so a few weeks ago hoping it would help. I eat 65ish grams of protein 30-50 carbs and drink lots of water. I know it just under 3 months I am still down 45 pounds, but a month with no weight lost is concerning me. I feel like I didn't pay nearly $20,000 to lose 45 pounds, especially when I paid $13,000 for my band 5 years ago. My insurance won't cover anything, labs, nutritionalist or anything considered related to my surgery, so I have only been twice to the nutritionalist. But I feel like I am following the guidelines. Anyone else have an experience like This? How can o start losing again?
  2. I am just about 6 weeks out and I haven't lost anything in 3 weeks. Its really frustrating, but I have read on here so many people go through this, so I am waiting a few more weeks before I totally freak out:)

    Does anyone still get "stuck"?

I used to throw up literally every time I ate. I would panicky if we weren't seated close enough to a bathroom at a resteraunt, because I knew I'd be in there 3 or 4 times. I hated eating with other people outside my immediate family. I'm only 21 days post op right now, but I know I had a pressure/pain feeling everyday in my chest for the last couple of years and now it's just gone. I had such severe scarring that it took 5 hours to do my revision surgery and was warned I may need the area where my band was dilated in a few months. However no pain in my chest and even though I'm just to mushy foods I haven't had that stuck feeling even once, and I used to get it with water sometimes. Band coming out was the best choice for me!
  4. In 2012 I paid for my lap band out of pocket 13,000 and it was outpatient and 2 weeks ago I paid for a revision to a sleeve out of my pocket as well. My insurance doesn't cover WLS or any complications of it. While it's frustrating to have to pay, I know the money I will save on weight related medical issues will make up for it in the long run. My total for the revision was around 15,000 in the Salt Lake area. That included a 4 day stay in the hospital.
  5. When I had my lap band in 5 years ago I got a lot of negativity from people I thought would support me. I know sometimes it was jealousy and sometimes concern, but it hurt because I felt like I had made a decision to better me, to better my health and it was a hard decision. Then when I regained 100+ pounds and now I had it removed it was a lot of I told you so. I actually told very few people about the revision, and the rest think I only had the removal. I didn't want to hear it from them. You are making the choice to take care of you, and only you can decide what makes you feel good. Don't let them make you feel bad for doing what's best for you. Good luck!
  6. Actually I did have my gallbladder removed a few years ago, it was that surgery that started my lap band nightmare. Once they emptied my band for surgery it was never okay again. The bile may have been so bad from not having it, I'm not sure I do know it was so disgusting though. Even though I can still feel where the band was due to scar tissue, I feel like my life is already better. I really suffered and hated that band, I should have had it removed sooner.
  7. I had my band out and sleeve done 2 weeks ago, I planned to be back at work at 2 weeks, but I dont quite feel up to it so I am waiting until Monday which will be almost 3 weeks post op. My band had been a a problem for years and I should have had it done sooner. I paid cash for my band and it was a real sacrifice so I was determined to make it work. But it had slipped and I had been vomiting 30+ times a week. There was such severe scarring that my procedure was very extensive, I had to self pay again which was really frustrating. But even though it's been a rough go so far, I can feel a difference with my band gone. I am still facing a dialation of the scar tissue where my band was once the staples heal in a few months, because even though they cut out an insane amount of scar tissue I still have some restriction from what's left. I wish I had don't it years ago before it got so bad. The band is awful, I lost 140 pounds before I started having problems with my band and I gained almost all of it back living on an almost completely liquid diet for nearly 3 years due to band issues.
  8. I had my band out and sleeve done 2 weeks ago. I was in the hospital for 4 days. My band had created such a nasty scar that the 2 hour procedure we planned for ended up over 5 hours. I was miserable and sick. I spent 4 days violently vomiting bile, I was glad I was in the hospital because I needed the IV. I wasn't able to eat or drink anything until that 4th day. Strangely though, once the vomiting got under control I came home and havent thrown up again. I really think it was so many hours under anesthesia that made me so ill and not the surgery itself. My recovery has been pretty rough, but considering how bad the surgery ended up being I am doing really well. My band had been a nightmare for years and even though it's been hard I am so glad the band is gone.
