So my surgery is Wednesday!! Wow it happened so fast. My question is i read and hear so many different stories about pre op diets. Some people have them some dont some can eat some are all liquids. I know its to help reduce the size of the liver but I think ultimately its to prepare you for the couple of weeks after surgery you are on all liquids while you are healing etc. I mean there are people much much larger then I am who have the surgery who have very fatty livers and they still have the surgery which leads me to believe its more of a prep thing for after surgery. Seriously I am a bit worried my liver is not small enough or im still too fatty or something. I have done the liquid diet thing yes i have cheated here and there but nothing major. I had a small chicken breast and some fruit and some egg whites. I have lost some weight for sure about 10-12 pounds I think my scale died last week. My friends don't understand and I really don't have much support in my personal day to day life from anyone. I have been sitting home doing nothing while on this liquid diet. It's like i have the plague or something. I just wish i had more support from the people who I thought were my friends. Keep my in your thoughts. i want this more then anything. Wednesday june 11th I hope to wake up from surgery and be on my way to the losers bench!! XOXOX Barbie :tongue2:

Well i don't feel like I have a cold. I just have a slight sore throat. I think if I can catch it I will be fine by June 11th. I am going to call my pcp in a few mins here and see what they say. If I cancel my surgery I wont be able to get in for 3 months hes that booked!! I will be OK!! Think good thoughts for me!! XOX Barbie

:scared2:has anybody had a cold or sore throat going into surgery? i think i am fighting one off the right side of my throat is sore and i see a few white spots on it. i am chugging emergen-c plus i am drinking 4 boost high Protein shakes a day because i am on a 2 week pre op liquid diet. im so scared that if i am a little under the weather they will send me packing on june 11th my lapband surgery day i don't know what to do!!! im freaking out slightly!! you know honey I would call your insurance company and ask they are all different. I know I have somethings that are yet to be paid and like you i plan on paying little by little. also post this as a thread in the insurance portion people here are so knowledgeable xoxox barbie

OK, so i am pre op! I am wondering about the cost of the shakes and liquid diet before and after surgery. Seems I will be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before and for the standard amount of time after. What was your cost? More then your average groceries? I'm a party of one so when i grocery shop i spend $200 and don't have to go for another 4 weeks. I know it's probably the least of my worries but I can't help but to wonder. XOX Barbie:tt2:

I think I will get one. I do wear a charm bracelet but I could get something simple for my other arm. I saw a really nice one that looked like an ID bracelet with a small medic alert charm on it. subtle and cute. How are you feeling a week out? Hope better each day! XOX Barbie

Hi! I'm new here. Pre Op waiting for approval from BCBS. Anybody from the Metro Detroit area? I need some buddies who get what is about to happen to my life. I have tried to explain and well the people who I thought were supportive have basically pooped out on me. And my so called best friend!!! HAAAA!!! Forget it. Shes about as helpful as the KING SIZED Almond Joy calling my name that I have stashed in my desk here at work aahah! She would be the type of friend to take me to a buffet for dinner 2 weeks post op or some crap like that. So yeah i need some locals if possible men and women..dont be shy! XOXOX Barbie

Hi! I was on ebay posting some stuff and I thought what the heck let me type in lap Band and see what comes up. Not much unless you are in the market for saws and some other weird things. Anyway I did however see a few Medic Alert Brecelets just for Lap Bandsters. Do any of you wear one now after surgery? I am pre op waiting for approval. So I'm just curious. XOXO Barbie

I'm from St Clair Shores. I'm going with Dr. Hawasli at St.John main hospital off Moross. He and his staff are awesome. The psych was weird first it was a 567 question test like meap test sorta deal color in the circle for abc but there must have been over 100 different types of questions about hearing voices and thinking the voices are out to get me and stuff. I actually found it pretty funny. Then I had a one on one with the doc who gave me the creeps. But whatev. now all I have left is seeing the dietician and submitting it all to the insurance company. you know hurry up and wait type stuff.

Hi! I'm from Metro Detroit! So far i have been to the seminar met Dr. Hawasli and he awesome staff, had the most amusing time at the psych evaul. I mean how many questions about hearing voices was this guy going to ask me!!!! ahaha!! Oh and I have got the OK from my Primary Physician. So now all I have left is to meet the diectician and submit the paperwork to BCBS and I will be on my way. I am scared and excited all at the same time. Most of all i keep thinking, wow this time next year my life will have done a 360 I'm sure! I haven't told many i am doing this. I reluctantly told my mother who has spent her days since we talked trying to talk me out of it. Told my best gal pal and asked her to keep it a super secret and I found out she blabbed to basically the entire staff where she works and some other friends of mine. I was very upset and it sort of put my friendship with her in perspective. The other who know only 3 have been SUPER!! the best cheerleaders a chick could have!! I have been over weight since grade school but never really big till the past few years due to life and all its wonderous stress. Anywho! I'm happy to have found this forum and I hope to meet some local people to talk to and make a life long change for me and only me!!! XOXOX Barbie:wub:
