I never tried to stop so many addictions at once cold turkey, however, I am a victim of Hurricane Katrina and after the storm I had serious side effects from not consuming caffeine. It took me a few days to even pin point where the head aches and irritability was coming from. Try gradually taking yourself off the caffeine like your nurse friend suggested. You will be much happier!
Do you have insurance coverage through your employer or are you looking at purchasing a policy through AETNA. If you have coverage through your employer, call the benefits coordinator in your HR department to see if your policy has a direct exclusion for the treatment of obesity. You can also usually find this information in your benefits policy if you have a copy of that. Good luck.
That is so encouraging. I will keep you posted on my experience with the insurance. I have my consultation on Tuesday and hopefully the ball will get rolling shortly after. I am so excited!
Bless you Stacey! That was so sweet of you to do. My BMI is 42 so hopefully I will be fine. I really hope so because I don't know if I can handle the disappointment of being turned down! If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to get approved after the dr. sent up your paperwork?
Yes, I am just getting started. Thanks for the advice about researching. I have done so much research and read so much that I feel like this is consuming my whole life! However, I am looking forward to the journey. I am not military but I do work very closely with the military through my occupation. Is Dr. Alva doing your surgery? Who is your insurance provider?
I also have Care First and have been very anxious to see if they approve my surgery. I have not come in contact with anyone else with this insurance. Have you heard back from Care First yet. If so, were you approved or denied?
