I hope your surgery went well! One more thing I wanted to throw in is how important I think a sense of humor is. It's desperately needed and can make the problems easier to bear. My hubby is having a blast ribbing me about the gas I'm having. He is suffering just as much as I am, lol. I'm so thankful he is been by my side through this. Oh No! That wasn't my intent. my problem was small veins. The other girls were dehydrated. My Dr does like 15 surgeries per week and I've read 2 bad experiences. I personally was chugging water at 10pm the night before to keep everything plump. I think my misery was because it blew and I wouldn't let them redo it. That made it worse because the IV meds were causing me agony. But I should have quit being q wuss and just let them redo it. Best wishes!

I would switch to something better than water. Maybe propel or powerade zero? Try a few different things, but I wouldn't wait too long. If I were you I might try electrolytes, but have a preset "if this happens, I must seek treatment now" point. You need to seriously increase asap and see a difference. Maybe you could call urgent care and see if they would treat. I like urgent care because here they bill as a pcp, not an ER. We always get excellent care. This is great advice. My first surgery ever was horrible. It was emergency, I was alone, and I think the stress and circumstances really impacted my immediate recovery. For my sleeve, I was shockingly calm, hubby was there cracking jokes and my my recovery was pretty much flawless. I can't drink very well, but am amazed at how well I feel. I wish I had known how big of an IV they used for Bariatric patients (since we have reduces drinking capacity after) . Any iv's I've had in the past were no problem. But when they brought in that 18 gauge spear, I wanted to run. Now I understand why so many patients wrote about needing 4 tries before it was successful. It only took 2 tries in me, but the first one blew, then the 2nd one blew and was just not a fun experience. Oh, they gave me two IV meds as they wheeled me out of preop. I don't remember what it was, but apparently a common side effect is an itchy crotch, lol. I complained to my hubby "my coochie itches!" and the nurse said, "oops, I forgot to tell you that part". I'm telling people I had a hernia repair and while they were in there, a procedure so I couldn't eat as much. For work people, the hernia is enough, for family and friends, it's based on how judgey I think they'll be. But it turns out my hernia was much worse than we thought, so I feel totally fine with leaving it at that. I used to keep tums on my desk at work, so people knew I was having issues. I had my surgery on Friday and I was pleasantly surprised. First, they drew blood and then had me wipe down and change. Then they started the IV and fluids. I was OK and didn't ask for anything. Then the nurse said she'd give me two meds, one for my memory/anxiety and the other I don't remember. I remember about 2 seconds after the 1st medication, even though hubby said I was awake and talking. Apparently the 2nd medication causes certain body parts to itch and told him "my coochie itches so bad!" to which the nurse replies "oops, I forgot to tell you about that". Lol. Next thing I remember, I woke in recovery. No incision pain, just a stiff neck and sore shoulder from some shot they gave me. Much less stress than anticipated. I've read some have you awake as you transfer to the or, but if you're anxious at anytime, speak up. Be sure to hydrate very well the day before! And best of luck! I bought the isopure because they had a 1# bag I thought would be good to try. It really has been undetectable so far in anything I mixed it into.

I think it's normal. I'm the same way at 5 days post op. I'm on purees, and have read we should really start to feel the restriction when we get to more sense protein. With liquids, I get pain after a few sips, so my guess is that means stop. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I have a nice bright red itchy line under my bust. Someone suggested it's the betadine like stuff used to clean our bellies during surgery. I'm using steroid cream, and it might be a little better. Sent from my XT1254 using BariatricPal mobile app

I just got back from my sleeve surgery with Dr Taggar in FL. I would totally recommend him. One thing I learned is Florida doctors can opt out of malpractice insurance, and do something else like a line of credit in case they get sued. . It's not uncommon and at first freaked me out, but after reading, I was totally fine with it. And based on the number of people filling the office, others didn't mind either. I would say don't underestimate the gas pains. I had tiny little burps for the first 24 hours, and thought I got off easy, because I walked over 100 laps around the nurses station. Silly me! Mine took about an hour and 40 minutes. I was out of it before they took me back, and I woke up at 11 in recovery. I felt fine, and stayed in recovery about two hours because they were really busy. I just tasted the coconut and liked it (I'm only day). I tried the berry a few days ago and liked it too. Haven't tried grape yet. Enjoy!

My first consult Bmi was 35.6. I tried the insurance route, with no luck. So I shopped around for a new surgeon and by the time I finally had surgery, my bmi was 32.9. I didn't have to do a preop diet, but chose to do one anyways. My main motivations were to get rid of high BP, cholesterol and hope for a smaller belly (currently 44 inches), and to feel less self confident around my hubby. I was not a healthy fat person and didn't want to end up like my dad and need a quintuple bypass and valve replacement So far it has been good. Surgery yesterday, managed to get down my entire tray and have walked 59 laps so far. I think it's a great tool, and I'm did it to help me do something I haven't been able to do on my own. That's so wonderful of him. My husband has been like my errand boy, lol. Before surgery, I showed him pictures and explained what I could eat, so in case he had to run out and get me something, he would know what he is looking for. I also made him a list of all my meds, physician info, allergies, pharmacy, pcp, etc. Seems like the dr, hospital, nurses, all ask the same questions and I wanted him to be able to answer for me if I didn't feel up I also told him about the regret phase, so he would know what was coming, and for him to remind me why I wanted to do this.
