  1. Hi everyone, my starting weight was 352 lbs and right now I’m 3 months into my 6 month medically supervised weight loss program and I now weigh 338lbs. My doctor has suggested that I do the sleeve. My goal is to get to 180lbs, I’m 5’8.
  2. Hi everyone, I’ve recently made an Instagram account specifically for my weight loss journey and I would like to add you guys and you can add me too. My name is anewmestartsin2018 thanks
  3. Thank you. I’ve told my mom and 4 sisters, 3 of my sisters are ok with it and my mom, one of my sisters isn’t and I don’t plan to say anything else to her about it until after I’ve had the surgery, I don’t need the negativity. Im sorry but I don’t know what the number is for either.
  4. Oh ok that’s great. Congrats to you too. I was told that I’ll have to complete my pre-op appointments after my 4th visit.
  5. Hello everyone, my name is Samantha. I had my first appointment in March, and I was told that I should be having surgery in August or September if all goes well. Great to meet you all and I wish you all the best.
  6. @ Diana_in_Philly Ok thank you for you response. I figured that it may just be his requirement and he also did warn that if I don't lose any weight during the supervised diet he won't go through with the surgery. Ill give his office a call to double check. He said in about 4 months he will send to do all the other evaluations and testing that ill need to have done. I know the time will go by quickly but looking at it now it just seems so far away, Ill just try not to let that discourage me.
  7. Hello good day I hope that everyone is doing well. My name is Samantha, I'm 28 years old and I had my first consultation with the surgeon yesterday. His office set me up for my first visit with the nutritionist in 2 weeks. I was previously seeing a nutritionist but he said that I will have to start over with a nutritionist through his office. He also stated that I will have to see the nutritionist consecutively for 6 months before submitting for approval. I called my insurance provider just to make sure that the procedure is covered because in the benefits booklet that I received from them it states that it is not. The representative that I spoke to said that it is in fact covered and she listed what they required. But for the supervised diet history she said that they only require 3 months within the last 6 months, so I am a bit confused. Is there anyone who has 1199 insurance that can tell me what they went through ? I was wondering if maybe that 6 month period was just his requirement. Thank you
  8. Hi nice to meet you, good luck with your journey. I am just starting out so I still have that long road ahead of me.
  9. Ok thanks I'll make sure to check that out. I love going to the gym. I used to attend several times per week but I recently got injured and I havnt been able to go for the past 2 months and I miss it. I hope that I'll be able to start working out again soon.
  10. Ok great, I also have 1199 and I want to have my procedure done at NYP also. For the past few months I've been gathering information from the internet and books and putting together questions that I want to ask the surgeon when I go for my consultation next week.
  11. And congrats on your weight loss
  12. Wow you look great. I'm doing well, right now I just want to get the whole process started. I hoping that things will go smoothly for me. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of insurance did you have and how long was the process for you? Oh also, where did you have your procedure done?
  13. I'm in NY but Im in Mount Vernon. Im just starting out and I have my first appointment with the surgeon next week. Im a bit nervous and excited about what is to come. I would love to find a buddy/mentor who I can speak to through this journey.
  14. Ok thank you very much
  15. I happy for you. I feel like this is my last option also. Ive tried loosing weight naturally for years but I would just end up regaining and I feel like I need to take control of my weight now before its too late. With the heartburn is that something that will go away after some time or will you have to always take the ppi ? And also your lack of energy, how bad is that?
  16. Oh wow 8 weeks (sorry) congrats. I guess thats true, they would know the best option. Im still open though, right now I just want whats best for my health. Ill just continue to do my research.
  17. Oh ok, Im going in for a consultation on May 31st but I am hoping that I can have the gastric sleeve done but if the bypass will be better for me I'm ok with that. So being 6 weeks post op how do you feel? How was the whole process for you?
  18. Hello my name is Samantha, Im 28 y/o and I'm looking for people in the westchester county area ( Im actually near to the Bronx). Im just starting out in this journey and I would like to find a buddy or mentor within/near to my area. Thank you
  19. Hello everyone, my name is Samantha, I'm 28 years, 5 ft 8 in and I weigh 320 lbs. For as far back as I can remember I have been overweight and I have now come to the point where I have decided that I am going to have weight loss surgery. I have tried many different diet plans in the past to lose weight and then I would end up gaining again. Last year was the best that I have ever done at losing weight, I lost about 60 lbs and I was able to get down to 275 but unfortunately I have gained most of the weight back. And even with my best efforts I am now stuck at 320lbs. I have been doing lots of research on the internet and reading books and I have decided that I want to have the sleeve gastrectomy done. I am still in the early stages of my journey but I would love to get more information from people who have gone through or are going through this journey because I don't know of anyone personally who I can speak to. It would also be great if I can find a buddy to go through this journey with. Thank you very much.
  20. Ok that would be great if they did that, because I lost weight early last year but I unfortunately ended up regaining most of it [emoji20]
  21. No I havnt, I was seeing a nutritionist before I made this choice so hopefully I can continue with her and use that.
