    6 months post op...CAN'T EAT!!!

I have been to the ER here in Easton many times. I do have an appointment with the bariatric Dr in Annapolis in November. All my labs have come back perfect, no deficiencies at all ( I manage to keep my chewable son down pretty well, strange but good) electrolytes are good and I am hydrated. i think my stoma is too small. I do agree that I should go to the ER at Hopkins. I think that's going to be my best bet.

    6 months post op...CAN'T EAT!!!

Sadly, Midatlantic surgical associates and the hospital was Penninsula Regional (Salisbury) That place is a dump and the nurses are all b*****s. I wanted to go to Johns Hopkins but the wait for a first appointment was 7 months!! I should have waited. A good friend of mine is a nutrition freak and a former body builder, he says I need physical therapy focused on strengthening. So, I see my cardiologist on the 13th, I am going to ask him to write me a script for that. I just wish I could eat a little bite or 2 without throwing it up or being in pain for hours.

Well, I'm now 5 months out. I've lost 110 pounds. I still cannot eat and I am very weak. Dr says everything looks fine. He has no answer for my weakness. I go see my cardiologist nex weak. I hope he can figure it out.

I chose RNY over a sleeve because I was promised I would never have reflux again....LIE!! I am just as bad now as before and take 2 Zantac a day. Easting is awful. I never know what is going to stay down and what will have me heaving after I baby bite. Frustrating but...I look great. i am still VERY weak. Anyone else weak?

    6 months post op...CAN'T EAT!!!

Hi, I am glad I found this thread. I had RN-Y on April 3rd of this year. I have lost 87 pounds since my surgery. That's great and wonderful but, I cannot eat ANYTHING. Well, I can eat a few crackers for some reason but nothing else. I am hydrated but, I can't even drink protein shakes. I throw them up. I can drink water and unsweet tea. They say nothing is wrong with me. I throw up constantly. Even if I just sip chicken broth. Is this as normal as the docs say? I've known a lot of people to have this same surgery and they were eating small portions of regular food 6-8 weeks post op. Do I need to go find a new doctor? BTW, I take my chewables and frequently keep those down throughout the day.

Happy Anniversary everyone!!! I have a strange urge to play Barry Manilowe's "Looks like we made it" , LOL!! All the pain is gone except by my liver when I try to bend all the way down. I am down 25 pounds. But, the loss is starting to slow i can drink freely. I will not touch shakes, they are nasty. I am drinking Oikos Triple something... it's a tiny little yogurt drink with 100 calories and 10 G protein. I am no where near ready for actual food. i have discovered the joy of sugar free popsicle brand fudge pops. Omg good!!!

Hi everyone, hope you are all feeling good. I'm feeling great, still no hunger. Sadly, my weight loss has slowed from 3 pounds a day to 1 pound a day. I'm kind of bummed that it happened less than 2 weeks after surgery. But my chin is up and I'm looking at the bright side, it's still 7 pounds a week. How are you all doing with weight loss?

Please forgive me for over stepping. But, I disagree. I don't think you should ask your regular Dr for nutrition advice for at least 6 months. They have no clue usually. You shouldn't be "getting any calories you can" you need ONLY very high protein foods. Instead of grits make a scrambled egg and put it in your nutri bullet of whatever blender you have. Or some Daisy cottage cheese. 1/2 cups has 10 or 12 grams of protein. The oikos yogurt drinks I listed before are tiny but full of protein. Your body is burning up all your fat for fuel. You don't need carbs, just protein and water. Calories right now are not needed really. You can do it. You are just going through an emotional and physical shock and it's hard to adjust, but you WILL. And you are going to be gorgeous.

I too feel "eh" when I see my kids eat or I cook for them. I just don't care. I am staying on liquids as long as physically possible to get as much off as I can. I'm in no hurry to start eating purée or anything else.

Try the oikos yogurts. They are so delicious!!! 10 G protein each. I have also seen the light regarding hunger. It's funny, I used to say, but I don't eat that much!! How am I fat?? I blamed my lupus meds and diabetes. Now I am remembering every time, I just casually walked past the pantry and stuffed an Oreo in my mouth. Or finished off the kids fried chicken so it wasn't wasted food. Or all the times I had "just a few bites" of the cake on the counter while I cleaned the kitchen. YES, I did eat that much!! I just did it without noticing.

Hi, I wasn't either. Luckily I'm one of those crazy people that prepares for emergencies and one of my preps is this: https://smile.amazon.com/SurvivAMINO-Emergency-Substitute-Vitality-Sciences/dp/B00MAG75FU/ref=sr_1_10_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492109292&sr=8-10&keywords=protein+tablets those shakes are disgusting! I am not taking 15 tabs (90 g of protein) I'm taking 9 a day instead. I don't need 90 g of protein!! Plus I bought these: http://www.oikosyogurt.com/products/yogurt-drink/strawberry they are amazing and taste so delicious and have 10g protein!!!! I will start those when I feel like "eating"

Sorry you aren't doing well. The day after surgery you were out shoe shopping. Now this. Crazy. I'm sure you'll be ok though. i am doing great. I feel good, I'm drinking water like crazy. I hate the taste of shakes and stuff so I am taking protein tablets. What a difference. I still feel no hunger, no temptation, so I'm not really taking in any calories. But I feel amazing. I'm getting more hydration, more vitamins and minerals and protein than I did when I was scarfing down pizza. Amazing. I'm so happy I did this. I am down 20 pounds!

I am so proud of all of us. I realized that the magnesium I take for heart palpitations was causing the watery poo, so that is resolved. Down another 2 pounds today. I tried some broth yesterday. I was able to swallow it but 1/4 cup over 15 minutes made me feel like I had just been to a buffet and ate like the world was ending. So, I guess I will just keep at the broth once a day and see what the doc says next Tuesday at my post op visit.

Hi everyone. Well, it's been one week. As of now I can drink water freely. I am going to try some broth or a shake later. But, I started yesterday having watery diarrhea. No cramping, no fever, no gas, no smell..but 5 minutes after drinking water, I am peeing and "pooping" it out. I have read a lot of things online, most say it's normal since there is nothing but water going in. I feel fine. On the positive side, I have lost 15 pounds since my pre op weigh in.

You can handle jell-o???? Wow, you are doing great. I tried a popcicle and the cold gave me major stomach cramps. I think I'm just going to heal a lot slower because I have lupus. blueberry, I'm happy you are doing better.

    Food addicts chime in

Hi there. I am 45. I love food. Homemade breads with butter and jam and cakes are my biggest issues....and homemade pizza. I can only Tell you what I am experiencing since my gastric bypass surgery 1 week ago. I feel no hunger, no craving and it is all I can do to push myself to get in enough fluids. You will do fine. If after a while you have a bite of something you shouldn't, it will probably be a lesson learned. I would hope you are having a bypass done and not a sleeve. You sound like you need the scare of dumping to keep you on the right path (that's why I chose it over a sleeve) good luck!!!

Hi everyone. Well I am feeling better. Still really hurt where the big incision is. Only taking the Percocet at night though. I am still only on water. Even crystal light is too much for me. Clear broth feels like a ton of bricks in me. I do have some survival tabs. I'm going to start sucking on one of those later and see how it goes.

Hi everyone. I had and am still having a rough time. I guess it's my lupus making it worse. Nurses at my hospital were horrible all they allowed was water 24 hours after the surgery which took 4 hours. None of the pain meds meds worked and my pain is very severe. I honestly thought since I have had numerous c-sections I would be ok. This is much much worse. Glad you are all doing better.
