  1. I know some people here have enjoyed seeing my progress, so I wanted to do another update. I recently had my 1 year surgery anniversary from my gastric bypass. I have also reached goal and am no longer losing weight, so I figured now was a good time! I am so happy I had my bypass. I am running, hiking, and doing all the physical things that I was limited in before. I eat well and don't feel any loss or limitation emotionally. I have added carbs back in now that I am at goal, and have maintained well (even lost a little) over the past 5 months since hitting goal and going off keto. I had my 1 year follow up with my doctor, and he congratulated me for losing 100% excess weight and for doing it in less than a year! High weight: 292 Surgery weight: 247 Goal: 150 Current: 147 Height: 5'6"
  2. No, I haven't. I do have a lot of loose skin, but I manage with shapewear. Maybe someday!

    100 lbs lost!

Thanks everyone! By way of update, I am now down to 159, and my surgeon's goal for me was 160. So that's awesome! I am in a size 6 pant, and size medium top and dress. It's just surreal!

    100 lbs lost!

I have had a lot of hair loss. I am not balding, but I had a lot of hair to begin with. I have lost about 50% of my hair volume, and was very worried for a while. But while I started losing hair at 4.5 months, it stopped falling out rapidly by 6 months. Now it seems like just normal hair loss, and I am not freaked out.

Thanks! I do have a lot of loose skin. I wear shapwear unless in athletic clothes.

    100 lbs lost!

Wow, thanks everyone! Not at goal yet, but on my way. Here's my most recent photo at 113lbs lost. I have 30 more pounds to lose to reach my goal, and just 20 to reach my surgeon's goal.
  12. I made it to onederland at 198 lbs yesterday, and finally weigh less than my husband! 94 lbs lost total since my high weight. HW 292 2/1/2017 SW 248 5/1/2017 RNY CW 198 7/28/2017

  15. It depends on the office. While insurance qualification was a long process for me, the process with my surgeon has been pretty quick. A couple weeks to get an consultation, and then a date scheduled for surgery a couple weeks after that.
  16. I would go to a different surgeon.

    Exercise before surgery

I have been walking/jogging, and try to do 2 miles a day. My main goal is to get my heart rate into the cardio or peak range for 30+ sustained minutes each day.

    VSG or RNY?

Doesn't the rerouting of the intestines with the RNY affect your overall metabolism? What are the long term effects of absorption? I'm leaning toward RNY because portion control isn't a real struggle for me- but I just don't see real weight loss even on low calorie diets. So we're hoping the malabsorption will help in the long term.
