  1. I am so nervous!! My breathing and asthma is really bad right now, so I am so nervous I will have a problem. Last night my boyfriend said I was snoring pretty badly and kept waking myself up. I wake up feeling pretty lousy. I was reading on obesityhelp about a guy who's lungs were not breathing right from the surgery and they had to put him on a breathing machine and sedate him because he paniced and tried to pull out the tubes. He woke up 3 days later and had no idea what happened. I am also nervous because I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue (Epstein Barr) which are considered auto-immune diseases. I'm wondering if I will be one of the ones here who are always in pain or having a problem with the band.My doctor took my medical history, so he knows about it and didn't say anything other than banding would help my symptoms.I was on another board and people with Fibro all said the lap band helped them, so that's a relief. This weight is killing me. I'd do with a some twinges, pangs and dings to get myself healthier if I have to, but I sure hope that won't be the case.

  3. I'll bring it up in pre-op, and if the nurse wants me to delve deeper into it, I'll call Dr. A. I was on another board and people with Fibro all said the lap band helped them, so that's a relief. This weight is killing me. I'd do with a some twinges, pangs and dings to get myself healthier if I have to.
  4. Wait a minute, I'm confused, where did she go? I've seen her post on board, and she's above me too! :-)
  5. Good post Babs. I would hope that the obese, who know the sting of being ignored and left out in society would not turn around and do the same. It's that Napoleon Complex you have going on. lol
  6. Thanks Alex. I'm two weeks pre op and getting nervous. My doctor took my medical history, so he knows about it and didn't say anything other than banding would help my symptoms. I will talk with him though. Do patients normally see their surgeon for a pre-op or do I have to call him ?
  7. Jebus, this is what I have to look forward too? Thanks for the laugh, but also...yikes!
  8. This is an excellent question and one I'd like an answer to. I would think if a band eroded, it damages the nerve too. Can someone ask their doctor about this?
  9. Okay, this thread is freaking me out. First of all, I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue (Epstein Barr) which are considered auto-immune diseases. Now I am freaking out because I'm wondering if I will be one of the ones here who are always in pain or having a problem with the band. Also, a friend of mine had a silicone leak in her breast and it crippled her and made her ill.It created a connective tissue disease. Is there any chance that the silicone chemicals can leach into the blood and tissue over time??? Because once it's in you, that's it. It can migrate into your lungs, brain, heart, liver, etc. and make you very sick.
  10. Just to chime in here about grammar, spelling etc... I have dyslexia. I'm no stooge, but many times my posts will have jumbled up sentances, words and many mispelled words. This one prpbably does too. When I post it it looks normal to me, so it's out of my hands. If I'm tired, or I'm PMSing, it's worse. I would hope no one would think of me as some stupid git that is not worthy of a reply. HOWEVER, I will be a total hypocrite and also say I will not read or answer posts from people that look like this: "Wut fills git the res to the band i hope 2 git there soon but i only have 2 mor months till my insurance is out n the doc wont giv me the fill wut do u do i have 2 b 2 in us?Mexico???????????????????? 4 sur i think this is all the best docs here but you know i cant pay 4 it so i got 2 do wut i got 2 do u know o man i gotta go thx dude u rock! Harsh but true for me. Probably because I figure if I'm dyslexic and can make the effort of some semblance of the English language, so can someone else.
  11. ABout the smoking, I quit in 1996 after 5 years of smoking and I was smoking two packs a day and enjoying every minute of it. Then, a few things happened. I got bronchitis for the first time ever. I realized I had weakened my lungs in those 5 years from smoking. Second thing was I couldn't breathe while exercising. I was working out at the time, so it was nto being out of shape. My lungs simply could not handle it. Then I saw a article in the AMA called "Smokers Face" and in it doctors discussed how aging it is, and how they can tell when someone walks into the room if they smoke by their face. That got my vanity. I tried the patch, cutting down, cold turkey, nothing worked. I took 2 months and researched what method was best and read that the most successes were with Nicorette gum. Research also demonstrated that people gained less weight while using it and some even lost. (I did)
  12. I can relate to what your saying. I am not banded, but that is how I am with food. I know the band restricts, and will help, but it just goes to show you that we have an addiction. To food. Food is my drug and it ruins my health and keeps me from living the fullest life I can just as if it was another dug like heroin, meth or cocaine.
  13. Are you serious? Was she really doing that to get high?
  14. I'm thinking the same thing. I think they are escapees too. I sre hope no one is looking for them, that would be too sad. :-(
  15. I have PCOS, in fact, it was my endocronologist who suggested this surgery. I wonder what foods are the ones that don't register?
  16. I find it interesting that in the very thread discussing that the board is becoming argumentative, had become argumentative. LOL (I know it's resolved, which I am glad of...I just had to point out the irony):biggrin1: It just makes me wonder how we are supposed to see the world make peace with each other if we can't even get it together on a forum board.
  17. I was wondering all day how she was. I was in the shower around 12ish and thinking "she is either in surgery or out by now". SHe's probably out of it today, but I look forward to hearing from her too.
  18. I think there is an actual web page for this stuff. I'll see if I can find it. Found them.. http://www.thepayback.com/ http://www.ekran.no/html/revenge/ http://www.revengeunlimited.com/catalog/
  19. LOL I love those dogs. hehehe Paula, did they check out as no one looking for them? I know I asked this before, but the reason I ask is this happened (my previous post) to my two dogs and thank god I found them. The police had them. I'll never forget the relief on my face and my dogs too, when I went to the back of the building and they were sitting in cages.
  20. Interesting how many nurses there are. Most of my clients (for Reiki and massage therapy) were nurses too.
  21. I've gained 10 since I met mine! lol But seriously, I worry about my liver. I'm being banded on the 13th.
  22. Sunta, I just read your post. I have noticed that you and I have posted very similar fears and issues over the past weeks, so I feel like you are me going through everything tonight and tomorrow. So I hope you don't mind if I post a prayer/blessing for you here which I hope others send out in their own way, to whatever God or idea of God people here may have. Please protect and surround Sunta at her surgery tomorrow, Wed. at 7 to noon. Thank you that Sunta is completely at ease in her body and mind throughout the surgery. All goes perfectly and she wakes at ease. All who administer to her and all procedures are successful. She heals quickly and easily. Thank you.
  23. Hey all, I'm so glad I posted this because your so right. I have put on 10 lbs already. I can hardly breath and couldn't button my coat today. For some reason, I thought I'd never be able to eat these food again..I don't want to have to work off this new weight, I'm dangerously overweight as it is! Tomorrow I start with a new mindset. Thanks so much. It's like someone slapped me into thinking. Weird.
  24. Hey all, For 3 weeks now, I've been on a bender. I'm eating the foods I know I can't eat with the band (cupcakes, Pasta, etc) I feel horrible, I'm so glutted with food (you know that feeling?) ANyone else go through this??
  25. I think it's because people sometimes forget to be respectful while still trying to get their point across. And of course, on the Internet, you will always have a few who are just angry inside and vent it, ripping some poor poster a new one in the process. Unfortunetly, I have seen many a good support board go down due to that kind of behavior. I hope it doesn't happen to this one.
