    Insurance to Cash

My insurance covered mine 100% but I paid close attention to what it actually cost. Mine was close to $30,000 for everything. I would have never been able to pay out of pocket. That's why some folks go abroad if they are paying cash. Hopefully everything goes through for you. My insurance only took about 3 days.
  2. I lost 26 but keep in mind that not only is every person different but every surgeon has a different plan for pre op and post op diets. Mine was 2 weeks but I know some folks do 1 week and some only 3 days and each of them do the foods or liquids different. You will do just fine for YOU! Do what your dr days and you'll be successful!

    Worried about Breastfeeding!

So I got sleeved and got pregnant 5 months out. I have been breastfeeding her for 10 months. I was roughly 14 months out when she was born and I started breastfeeding her. My personal opinion is I don't know that you will be able to eat enough to sustain a milk supply. Breastfeeding takes up roughly 500 calories a day, during pregnancy you only need and additional 200 on top of a regular diet. I don't think I would be able to keep my milk up right after surgery just knowing how little I could physically hold. I really had to graze all day just to get enough during pregnancy 5 months out when I could hole an actual whole 1/2 cup at a time. Best of luck to you!!! I hope you can do it all mama!

    Infertility

I can TOTALLY relate! Our story to a T only we had TTC for 5 years and I wasn't about to get back on bc after surgery since it had taken so long to balance out. Needless to say, I got pregnant 5 months after surgery however, nothing could have gone better. I did learn that OBs and midwives know nothing of bariatrics when they tried to tell me I could not have a natural birth because I was "high risk" I did my homework and went prepared with a plan and suggested they seek advice from the bariatrics dept. I upped my caloric intake by grazing through the day on additional healthy snacks and I'm convinced had a healthier pregnancy than I would have had I NOT had surgery. Everything went swimmingly and we had an unmediated birth just two days before my due date and I walked out of that hospital 4 hours with my baby girl she's 10 months now. I gained 17lbs during my pregnancy and it was all gone 2 days after. I went right back to losing with breastfeeding after labor. I realize my situation wasn't the ideal timing but it worked perfectly for us. I pray you have no issues getting pregnant when it's right for you! Best of luck!!!!

Newbie here! 6 mo P/O and Pregnant!

We also tried for 5 years and I had previously been diagnosed with PCOS. Had surgery and got pregnant 5 months out. I think my pregnancy would have been complicated had I NOT had the surgery. Everything could not have gone better for me. I boosted my health snacks and that was it. I gave birth naturally to a beautiful baby girl. Gained 17lbs throughout pregnancy and was back to pre pregnancy weight 2 days after. Went right back to losing with breastfeeding. My baby girl is currently 10 months old and we are both happy and healthy. I know my situation was not the ideal or recommended timing but nothing could have gone better for us and we hope you have the same experience! Wouldn't change a thing! Best of luck to you and congrats! Happiness all around!
  6. I have heard this as well. I got pregnant 5 months after surgery. I gave birth completely naturally without any complications or drugs at a birthing center. I didn't even get Tylenol! I got up and walked out with my baby girl 4 hours after giving birth and felt great. Labored in a tub got out and delivered on a bed. They did consider me high risk because I had a very healthy pregnancy. No issues and in range for all test while pregnant. YOU will have to educate THEM. They know nothing about bariatrics. I went prepared with papers and research on what I needed to do and what MY plan was to have a healthy pregnancy. Boost your healthy Snacks and do your homework and you can do it. Don't let anyone tell you you can't have the birth you want because you simply can't eat as much at once. Best of luck to you and congrats!!!!

    Gaining weight during pregnancy

I got pregnant 5 months after surgery and had a completely ideal pregnancy without any complications whatsoever. Gained 17lbs throughout and it was all gone two days after I delivered. I didn't gain anything until I was a few months in. I dropped to for the first couple months. Went right back to losing afterwards too. (I breastfed and am still 10 months out) Ive had to really boost my calories to not continue to lose but all has been well. I hope everything is going wonderful for you!

    Freaking out!

I got pregnant 5 months out and all was PERFECT! I'm sure my pregnancy was much healthier than it would have been had I not had surgery. I worked in more snacks to boost my calories (all very healthy and some ice cream to keep my sanity) and all went well. Delivered just days before my due day all natural at a birthing center and got up and walked out with my baby girl 3 hours after I had her. I gained 17lbs throughout and was back to ore pregnancy weight two days later. I continued to lose after with breastfeeding. (Keep those healthy calories up if you're planning to do so. It takes up A LOT of calories!) You'll be just fine!!! Congrats to you!!!!
