  1. My paper work was submitted on Feb 28th and I was approved on March 2nd. Only took 2 days. Extremely quick and I was extremely shocked. Surgery scheduled for March 30th.
  2. I have Anthem BCBS of CA and was told that with my specific employer plan it takes 5 business days to find out. I found out in 2 days. Best of luck!
  3. I have Anthem BCBS of CA. During my consultation, my surgeon's office called my insurance to verify that the procedure is covered under my employer plan and then have me the requirements. It was 6 months supervised diet. 40 BMI and over with no co-morbidities will suffice. I'm not sure if insurance will accept past doctors visits, especially if no weigh ins were included. I suggest you call your insurance directly and ask this specific question. It's better to know then to assume and have wasted your time down the road. Best of luck!
  4. I'm a VA sleever. Well, I live in MD but having my surgery at Inova Hospital at Fair Oaks.
  5. March 30th. I've never been more excited for anything ever lol
  6. I was approved by my insurance )Anthem BCBS CA) for the surgery!! But it wasn't without headache... I called my surgeon's coordinator on 2/28 to confirm that she had sent in my paperwork to insurance. Come to find out, she said my paperwork wasn't eligible to be submitted until MARCH 28th, which is a month after the original submission date I had been told during my 6 months. The coordinator said she'd send it in a month early anyway and see what happens. Well, she sent it in to my insurance on 2/29 and I called insurance today to verify it had been received and they told me they received it and approved it!! It only took 2 days for approval. I was so shocked. Now I'm waiting to schedule my surgery date and begin all of the lovely pre-op procedures
  7. I was finally approved! My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork on 2/29 and I called insurance to verify that paperwork was received today (3/2) and they told me it was and my insurance approved it!!
  8. I have Anthem BCBS CA and I was required to do 6 months. My bariatric surgeon's office called my insurance to verify that during my consultation
  9. I was approved today too! Best of luck on your journey [emoji4][emoji4]
  10. I'm stressed, y'all... My surgeon's office was supposed to fax over my packet to insurance for approval. I called my insurance late this afternoon and they haven't received anything yet. Called my surgeon's office and was forwarded to the health coordinator that handles all paperwork. She never answered and kept getting voicemail. I left one message and decided to call it a day. Super anxious to get the surgery and get started on my new life! Also, I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding in May and when I get my surgery plays a major role in getting my dress size, etc. I hate not knowing! Lol. Should I continue to call. My surgeon's office and my insurance to check on progress on paperwork or should I just let things so and wait for an approval call? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I don't think you need to be specific in the type of surgery you're saying. You can just inform your boss that you're having a major surgery and will need to take a certain amount of days off. However, if you feel comfortable in telling him, go for it! But I don't think you should feel obligated in being specific Hope everything works out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm pretty new to this forum as well! I just completed my 6- month requirement by insurance on Feb. 7th. Paperwork will be submitted on Feb 28th. I have a BMI of 45. I needed a PCP clearance, ultrasound, chest X-rays and an EKG. All of that has been done so anxiously waiting for approval! I have Anthem BCBS of CA but I live in MD. 13. Hey gals and guys, I'm patiently waiting for my surgeon's office to submit my paperwork to insurance for approval. Feb 28th will be exactly 180 days, or 6 months, of when I started my classes required by insurance. Anywho, I am wondering if anyone has Anthem BCBS of CA? How long did it take for you to be approved? Did you find out from the surgeon's office or did you find out from calling insurance's customer service early and often? :-) I'm super anxious, as I've got a lot happening within the next few months (being a bridesmaid, work travel, etc) and I'm going slightly crazy trying to plan out things in my head. 14. I'm waiting for my paperwork to be submitted. Surgeon's office is scheduled to submit on Feb 28th, a full 180 days from when I started my required 6 month supervised program. I have Anthem BCBS of CA. I'm really hoping the approval process is quick! Hoping to be scheduled for surgery at the end of March. I'm so anxious I can't stand it. My nerves :-( Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
