  1. Medifast is pretty decent. Do the chocolate with a couple drops of mint extract and 4 ice cubes. Yum. Also, instead of water, I used Diet Rite orange soda with the vanilla shake mix for a dreamsicle. Also use Diet A&W rootbeer and vanilla shake. And their strawberry is good all by itself.
  2. Good Luck and Congrats. I'll be right behind you. March 27th is my date. I've been fighting with insurance since March of last year! I was told to be persistant and not to give up fighting. They were right. I received my approval letter 3 weeks ago. Good luck.
  3. Hi there. I just joined this site tonight. When I started this process back in March of 2007, my BMI was only 36. I wanted this so bad. I was turned down by my insurance company on the first try. I was told to be persistant. So I appealed it and went to a new doctor for a second opinion. I didn't have any real comorbidities either. My doctor will do surgery with a bmi of at least 35. So I fought with the insurance company for a year. I was told when my bmi was higher that they would cover my surgery, so I gained weight. Silly, yes! My bmi was finally 39.4 and my insurance company agreed to cover it. I just got this news 3 weeks ago and my surgery is set for March 27!!!!. You can definatly find a doctor to do surgery for you with your bmi. And since you are self pay, it won't matter! Good luck.
