  1. I am not sure about your plan - but I wasn't allowed protein shakes right after surgery as I was supposed to be on clear liquids only for 7 days. Maybe that's a part of the problem?
  2. I did not have a barium swallow done. I didn't have GERD issues before surgery just minor heartburn/indigestion caused by what I was eating (which was basically fast food and other crap). I was just saying that I've experienced heartburn before so that's how I know what it feels like. As far as what I eat now - I'm still in soft foods so eggs, fish, chicken (though I havent tolerated it well), yogurt, jello, soups, protein shakes, almond butter, string cheese, lean turkey lunch meat and sweet potatoes. That's about all I've got in rotation these days. I only drink water or watered down gatorade G2. No eating and drinking together. I plan to go to my doctor, I was just wondering if anyone else has had these experiences and if it turned out to be GERD
  3. I'm 25 days Post-Op and everything was going well until I reached soft foods. I keep experiencing minor heart burn/indigestion. I have had this things pre sleeve so I am familiar with the feeling however it seems to persist longer and longer each day. I am eating mild foods only and avoiding spice, citrus, and anything else known to give me heartburn but it seems that no matter what I eat it persists. Is this GERD or am I paranoid? It also seems that everything I eat lately (other than yogurt) has been leaving with me with a queasy feeling. Am I eating too quickly? Has anyone else experienced any of this? Thanks for your help!
  4. Dr. Garcia at CER Hospital through Tijuana Bariatrics!
  5. I was sleeved on 5/27 and am having a similar problem. I lost 16lbs in the first two weeks but, now I'm stalled. I know it's hard advice to take, but honestly the only thing that seems to the most repeated advice is to just stay off of the scale for the first month. I am going to try my hardest!
  6. Thanks so much - I will try anything at this point!
  7. I'm 9 days post op and I am literally having to force down my protein shakes at this point. It's not that my stomach can't tolerate them, it's that between my pre-op diet and now having to drink them again just the thought of a protein shake is making me want to gag. I have never been a fan of sweet drinks and it seems like each one is sweeter than the last. Does anyone have any suggestions about how else to get my protein? Thanks!
  8. Memorial Area here - getting sleeved in 8 days!
  9. May 26th with Dr. Garcia!
  10. Good Luck! I am having mine done on April 10! You won't regret it!
  11. Hi There, I am getting sleeved in Mexico on April 10, and I was wondering if there was anything special that any of you would suggest that I pack? Someone here mentioned Gas-X strips to help with the gas bubbles, has anyone had any success with that? All answers are appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Yes they did get back to me and they were very nice and informative. However I did end up going with another doctor.
  13. I decided to go with Dr. Garcia as well. I will be having my surgery on April 10! Good Luck to you, and please let me know how it goes!
  14. I am getting my surgery on 4/10 with Dr. Garcia at Tijauana Bariatrics. I am both nervous and excited!
  15. You are not alone in feeling this way. I decided less than a month ago to have the surgery and now I am having it performed in April. I keep asking myself if I have rushed into this too quickly. Then I remember that I am doing this for a better future. The thing to remember is that this surgery has the potential to improve your life. Sometimes you just have to take a chance.
  16. I will be getting sleeved in Tijuana on April 10, just wondering if anyone else will be making the trek to Mexico around that time?
  17. I was just wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting a response back from the people at BariatricPal TeamMX? I have done the online chat via their website as well as submitted the online questionnaire (twice) and was told that I should be recieving a reponse from someone shortly. It has been 2 weeks and as I am looking to get the surgery done in early April I would like to get a response. Has anyone else had this problem? My other option is Dr. Fernando Garcia Govea at Tijuana Bariatrics. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with him? Thanks!
  18. Did anyone do any pre-surgery psychiatric care? I am considering going to Mexico for my surger in May, and I know that oftentimes here in the US you are required to have a pre-op psych visit. I don't see that as being a requirement for any of the surgeons in Mexico, and was wondering if anyone took it upon themselves to talk to someone. Also, which surgeons did you all go to in Mexico?
