    Calorie

This may be a "don't do as I do" kind of thing... but I revel in extra butter and salad dressing... and I have the lowest cholesterol my PCP has ever seen including athletes. Only a few times I have "overindulged" in fats which caused me some unwanted restroom urgency. (I ate crab dipped in butter, salad with extra dressing and Creme Brule all in one meal.)

    DS questions

Hiya newlife. I am six years out now, but I had a little stall at the 4 month mark. I did not lose a single lb for two months... then I started exercising more, which was apparently the only thing that needed to happen to put me back on track. I started small with Water aerobics 2X a week... then started back on eliptical trainer and pilates and lifting weights. Long story short, I lost all of my weight ahead of the anticipated schedule even with a two month stall at 4 months out. Oh, I almost forgot... I improved my Vitamin regimen also. That could help.

    DS-ers! Question about food intake!

I am almost 6 months post op. My initial pouch was 4 oz. I was a little bit of a different case because I had a leak complication with my surgery which prevented me from being able to eat or drink at all for the first 5 weeks. At 5 weeks, when the leak was healed, I could eat one hard boiled egg. Today, I could probably eat two hard boiled eggs and two pieces of bacon. When I eat out with my friends/family, I tend to eat 1/2 to 1/3 of the portion I am served. I eat kind of like those teeny tiny skinny ladies who seem to barely eat... and you always wonder if they feel constantly starved...only it is not miserable. You feel just fine/full. At first, be prepared for waiters to ask you if "everything is ok" and you like your food (because you ate so little of it).

    Coughing post-op. Any tips?

I agree with the pillow. Be very careful not to cause yourself a hernia (like I did by deciding to clean my hard wood floors on my hands and knees the day I got back from the hospital). Was your surgery open or lap? Mine was open. I have since had the hernia repaired (what a relief)!!! I really hope you don't have to go through that so be careful with yourself.

    Calorie

Hi, I will be 6 months post-op in February. I am maintaining at my goal weight (Down 200+lbs). I may be an unusual case, but I have never counted a single calorie since surgery. It is such a freeing feeling. Instead, I have focused on eating foods I know will give me the most Protein and fat, along with fruits and vegetables. I am not going to lie. I eat things that are not "good" for me sometimes. (high carb etc...) but this still has not thrown me off course. Protein shakes are something I cannot tolerate (I would spend my life in the bathroom)... so I did not drink a single one. Early out, egg salad was my best friend.... Now cow is my best friend LOL.
