  1. I eat rice, bread (sparingly) and pasta. But the ones I eat are all complex carbs (like Apple1 mentioned). My doc does encourage complex carbs though. I haven't had any issues with these foods at all either. Also, like Apple1, I'm doing a whole foods plant based diet as well.
  2. YAY!!!!! HAPPY DANCE for the hubby! LOL I suspect he is like mine...after a few weeks, he'll feel the difference and won't want to go back. It's amazing. Saving that recipe! I have almost all the ingredients...just missing the wheat gluten. Sounds yummy.
  3. Sweeeeeeet! That is pretty awesome. I think your body is thanking you too. ?
  4. Lol. I do both actually. Some dishes vegan, some vegetarian. Mostly vegan though. In fact, I did have an egg this morning! Lol. Say what!?!? But, still don't count. Hey, lost four pounds since last week too. Not too shabby, eh?
  5. I eat quinoa at most dinner meals. No problem for me. Still losing weight.
  6. Except me. Whole food plant based advocate here. ?? No calorie counting and definitely no low carb-ing, and still losing weight and getting healthier. ?
  7. Well, hidden veggies in mac n cheese didn't do the wonder I had hoped for. None of my kids liked it. Lol But, they did eat the chickpea and lentil nuggets I made! I'll take that success. Of course my husband ate everything. (That is his plate I do not like ketchup)
  8. Omg.... The intensive blood sugar lowering with drugs increased mortality. Not cool.
  9. You're welcome hon and many blessings to you and your baby to be.
  10. Under the vegetarian and vegan forum. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/400107-proteinaholic-by-dr-garth-davis/
  11. I use honey all the time. 3 months post.
  12. That looks soooooooo delicious!!!! And yay!!!!!! ? And nothing bad happened, that's funny. Im sunburned. This darker skinned girl is SUN BURNED!!! Lol. Skin is so sensitive right now. But it was fun. My 27lb, four year old LOVED the rapids tubing rides, had to do it a few times. Talk about fearless!!! Tickets are so expensive to go, but we pushed aside our "not buying anything unnecessary " to have some fun family time. But when it came to buy the tickets, we were blessed to get four of them for $20/each which is $30 cheaper each!!! and one was free from my daughter's academic achievements at school last year. So talk about a nice blessing. Thank you Lord. Lol the one I used to go to is 3.5 hours away but another was built here in my city and now we're only 7 mins away. So that's nice too. I'm glad we went even though I'm burnt up.
  13. Exactly that!!! No need for apologies, I loved reading every bit of it. I learned something too. So it's all good. I'm happy for you, ya know? Just genuinely happy for ya. ?
  14. Well good morning y'all. I'm getting curious and curious about my weight these days. Seems to happen right before the 15th of the month. lol. So, I weighed in at 208 this morning. I've also noticed the flap of my belly is smoothing out somewhat. Yay! Soon there won't be one. ? Best part, I feel great and I'm healthy inside. Hope you all have a beautiful resting Saturday! We're taking the kids to a water park called Schlitterbahn here. They've been waiting for this day all summer. Lol later y'all!
  15. First heard about it through the Forks over Knives documentary. I should get it as well.
  16. Sounds like it. The more you eat the simple carbs the more you want them. I've noticed the more healthy I eat, the less craving I have for something that isn't healthy. So lately it's been kale. I ate kale for breakfast the other day, probably eat it again today. ?
  17. I even got my husband quoting him. ? I'm enjoying Dr Greger's website. Thank you!!!
  18. It's working, even with me. I got in to it about 2 months post op though. I'm glad I did too. I feel better than ever. ?
  19. I was doing plant based a few weeks before surgery and then after, unfortunately, I did all the animal protein stuff. I didn't discover this information until maybe four weeks ago? Berry78 said it, you'll need to rely on your shakes But im still wondering, why the hype of so much protein after wls, specifically the sleeve? According to someone posts here (sorry, I don't remember who) Didnt Dr Davis say it's baseless dogma?
  20. The fact of less fat in your bloodstream that will have your body processing carbohydrates the right way, this should go VERY well. Also take in the fact that you aren't considered diabetic anymore. Right? Your bs numbers have been great since the weight loss, right? Diabetes, type II is a reversible, curable disease, that's why so many with fat loss get off their meds, etc. So, testing now without diabetes will show different numbers, albeit better, but won't play the same as if you were having high bs and making the switch. I'm still just as curious as you are though.
  21. My libido has increased without the extra weight. There are other factors that can play in that too though, like stress, etc. Maybe just not in the mood?
  22. I could have saved myself some money of not having WLS had I been this passionate about my health previously and/or found this book!!!! LOL But I'm still thankful and do not regret having it to reset my metabolism. All I can do is move forward and take care of my body the way I believe it should be intended.
