  1. No, I haven't. Do you have the name of it? I would like to search it. I'm not a member of Costco, but have friends who are. I like the idea of my protein being flavorless because then I can put it in anything, plus my husband can use it to when we work out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I don't think that's the same thing. This was referred by my bariatric surgeon. It is called GenePro and is sold by GNC. Look at the GNC website. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. We haven't gotten ours yet, but I'm sure it's listed on the website. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. My doctor told me about a protein called GenePro yoh can get at GNC. Or had 30 grams of protein, is flavorless and you can put 1 tsp(?) Into any beverage and it will not change the taste. You could try that and get your protein in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Mine is scheduled for the 25th. Good luck everyone!
  6. Just got approved last week for the 25th! Nervous, but super excited!
  7. You look beautiful! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  8. So inspiring and makes me more excited for my upcoming surgery, which hasn't been set yet until I finish 2 more physician supervised appointments. Keep us posted with these great photos! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  9. I disagree. One of the functions of the skin is to shrink and expand to meet the demands of the body, such as becoming pregnant. It just needs to be treated right by staying hydrated and moisturized. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  10. That is very encouraging! So many posters are saying that it never goes back, but I wonder if that is because they are not doing everything they can BEFORE surgery. How and where did you find collagen? Thank you for sharing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  11. Those are great tips! Thank you so much for sharing! I have heard the same thing about swimming and one thing I love about it is that it is also low impact. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  12. I haven't. I did call one place and they told me that they like to have someone 20-30 within their goal weight before getting lipo. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  13. Was this question for me or the previous poster? I will be scheduled in about 3 months. I an strength training, drinking Water, taking Vitamins, and using lotion on my skin. Some people say that skin can't go back, but that is NOT true. It will, but it takes work and time. It won't go back by much, but some of it will. We just have to take care of it. 14. Still not sure what this had to do with the topic of the main post. I didn't mention carbs. Dies it have anything to do with helping to minimize saggy skin after WLS? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  15. My husband has always worked out in the gym since he was a teenager and played football. He still works out to this day and knows which lifts to do for which muscles. I told him he has to train me and I will do what he says. Lol. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  16. Please disregard the word "indignation" at the top. It was an auto correct. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App

  18. That's a very good point. If we don't do something before, we will always wonder, won't we, if doing something before surgery would have made even the slightest bit of difference. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App Also, I would like to know about the item you mentioned above. Can you tell us more about that? 20. Here is some more indignation, I find in an online article on Pinterest. Main Menu How to Prevent Saggy Skin After Vertical Sleeve Surgery By Tatyana Ivanov A vertical sleeve gastrectomy is a surgical weight loss procedure recommended for treating obesity. During the procedure, a large portion of the patient’s stomach is removed, leaving a small pouch behind. This pouch fills more quickly than the larger stomach, allowing the patient to feel full after eating less food. Due to the typically large amount of weight loss experienced, loose excess skin troubles many post-op patients. While genetics largely determines the amount of loose skin you experience, taking a few easy steps before your surgery can prevent additional sagging. Things You'll Need Neoprene weight loss wraps Skin firming lotion Weights Water Vitamin A supplements Antioxidant supplements Exercise March in place, stretch your arms and rotate them in small circles or swing them back and forth for 10 to 15 minutes. This will warm up your body for additional exercise. Walk on a treadmill or the street for 10 minutes daily, four days a week. Wearing a neoprene warming wrap while walking will help boost toning. Stretch and work out trouble areas for saggy skin, such as the arms, thighs, stomach and butt. Gently lift legs and arms from a seated position. Wear the neoprene wrap on these areas to increase firming. Lift small weights, generally two to three pounds, to increase toning in your arms. While standing with arms dangling at your sides, lift the weights out and up until they are at the same level as your shoulders. Nutrition Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. Drinking enough water helps hydrate skin and improve elasticity. Eat foods that are rich in Vitamin A, such as low-fat milk and yogurts. Vitamin A helps regenerate healthy skin cells to replace damaged ones. Eat foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as berries, plums and pomegranate. Antioxidants help with healthy skin and are beneficial for the heart and metabolism. Avoid foods with large quantities of refined sugar and carbohydrates, as well as over-processed foods with empty calories. Other Preventive Methods Apply a skin firming or tightening moisturizer all over your body after showering, paying special attention to your trouble areas. Avoid smoking and smoky environments. Wear sunscreen of SPF 40 or higher when you are going to be exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm glad! I kept seeing a lot of negative posts about how it will never go back and I refuse to believe in nevers. That's why I decided to make a positive post. We all need positive thinking. This is a hard choice we are making, to have this surgery. Why make it harder on us by being negative? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  22. You look great! Any exercise tips, routines or suggestions? I carry a lot of my weight in my belly as well. I plan on resistance training with a band and I have a treadmill. Have you worked out using one of those big exercise balls? Looks like it might be easy on the back and help strengthen the core.Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App Yes, you've got the right idea. I've been working out for two years straight at this point (wow, right? I've NEVER stuck to it this long!) and I do a combination of cardio (running, Stair Climber) and weights/resistance training. I do 30-40 minutes of cardio, and then switch off days working either legs, arms or abs. I utilize all the things you mentioned: Kettle bells, exercise ball, straps, and weight machines. I will also use my own body for resistance with planks, pull ups, burpees and squats. I honestly don't kill myself. I will push myself, but I also don't want to hurt myself and not be able to do any exercise at all. Right now in maintenence I work our 3 days a week, and do walking the days I don't go to the gym. The key is mixing things up to create muscle confusion, and raising and lowering your heart rate through out your work outs. Make sure you're doing what you like so you will stick to it! I get bored easily, that's why I do many different things to keep me motivated Did you start exercising before surgery too? Or strictly post- surgery? 23. Besides my husband, I have only told 2 of my very good friends who are very supportive and a family member. Some people, no matter how good their intentions, don't understand how hard it is for those of us who HAVE tried other diets and the constant struggle of the yo-yoing ups and downs. It is okay to keep that part a secret and not feel guilty about it. You're not cheating or taking the easy way out. You are being given a tool to help you manage your eating. That's it. You will still have to eat right and maybe even exercise, just like your 135 lb friends. ☺ How you go about doing that is your business and if they can't be supportive, then they shouldn't say anything and make you feel bad for taking control of your health and your future. I'm not trying to be harsh. I just think friends should be supportive and encouraging. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  24. I agree with Little Bill abs I'm not a man is lecherous! I cab definitely live with that amount of skin! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
  25. Yay! Good for you! You can do it! My husband and I are going to start going back to the gym also, probably starting next weekend (after my finals are done). We'll start a routine of strength training and some cardio (swimming, low impact, but great resistance). I bought some Biotin and will start that also. Good luck to both of us!
