  1. Hi everyone! I'm only on day 3 of having my band. And I'm having a really hard time with craving food that I'm not supposed to be eating yet or otherwise (i.e. pizza, cheeseburgers, fries, etc). Any advice on how to get through this phase? Or things I can eat/drink to stay satisfied? Water, Jello, and Protein water aren't cutting it... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hey everyone! I'm super stoked that I found this app! I thought I was going to have to go through this alone (with the help of Pinterest), but now I know I have somewhere to turn if I have some basic questions With that said, I was just banded yesterday. I'm having a hard time doing pretty much everything by myself (i.e. Standing up, going potty, etc.) because of the pain. My surgeon prescribed me Norco for the pain, but it really doesn't seem to help much and just puts me to sleep. Can I get a general idea of how everyone else's pain dissipated and how long it took to do so? I plan on going back to work on Monday but right now feel like that may not happen. 3. @@bigcdub33 we have a lot in common apparently! I went back to work today as well. But since I sit straight up at a desk all day, I ended up having to leave early because of the pain. My guts felt compressed all day since I wasn't in much of a lounge position and I didn't have my binder on (like I did over the weekend). I can't seem to get the binder on tight enough by myself to get the support I want without my hubby's help, and he had already gone to work this morning so I went without and suffered the consequences. Keep that in mind when you get yours. You may want another person there to help tighten it. I do however use the pain meds. They don't do much for me either, but if I stay on top of the recommended dosage and keep it in my system, I find it takes the edge off. And of course I'm sick now (courtesy of our 5yr old germ factory), so coughing definitely contributed to my major discomfort today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Need some advice

Thank you @@genn and @@WLSResources/ClothingExch for the chicken bullion idea. Definitely did not even think of it! I did purchase Protein powder that I can add to the soups, but since I'm doing clear liquid I haven't added it yet. @@elisa5150 - thank you for that soup idea as well! Hadn't thought of that either! @@WLSResources/ClothingExch - I did a lot of hard thinking before considering this surgery and I am completely willing to do what it takes. But the fact remains that we are surrounded by commercials and billboards of all the tasty foods we used to eat (even on FB with those stupid recipe videos), so it's a little hard to just ignore. I was only wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing I am and how they coped with it - that's all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Need some advice

Unfortunately I'm not allowed full fluids yet. Have to stick to clear liquid only for the next 5 days... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have been using the abdominal binder but it really only seems to help if I'm up walking around. If I'm laying down I unhook it immediately. And sucking on popsicles is amazing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I agree with TeeTree. Wonton soup and Jello are great for me so far. You can actually order just the broth from most places. They look at you a little funny, but you still get the tastes you love without all the stuff you can't eat yet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Drinking alcohol with band

I was just banded yesterday and this was one of the first questions I asked my surgeon. He told me that alcohol is an irritant, but that safely I could probably sip a glass of wine after about 6 weeks. Which is a hell of a long time since my husband and I are normally hosting some kind of party or another. In my own opinion (and take it from someone that likes to drink often) I would take it easy if I were you. Like you, I have chosen to NOT tell the majority of people I know. So if you choose to go out with your friends, you can always get out of drinking by stating that you're not feeling well, and just sip Water and be the DD if necessary. I think your new stomach will thank you for it in the long run Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
