  1. Yea! I would love a copy of the letter. I am waiting on my second submisson to insurance...???
  2. YEA!!! Congrats to you. I am still waiting for approval. I was denied last time, but have since been diagnosed with sleep aptnea and possible high blood pressure. Hopefully, they will approve me this time.
  3. WOW!! Super for you :thumbup1:)))
  4. Ok, I have UHC insurance. In February 2010 I was denied by my insurance company for surgery because I only have 3 years of documented bmi over 40. The other 2 years, I was on prescribed diet pills and by bmi was 34-35..... I was sooooo DIASPPOINTED!! I have since gone to an Intertist and I had a sleep study last night and I passed with flying colors. I most defeintly have sleep aptnes. My blood pressure was slightly elevated on my last dr. visit, as well and he is going to monitor it next month. Do you think I will be approved since I have a diagnosis of sleep aptnea and a possibility of high blood pressure. What do you think??
  5. I am soooooo disappointed!!!!! I was denied for wls! I have a 42bmi, and 3 years charted with a bmi over 40. The other two years, I was on diet pills, which is also on record. They denied me........................................................................................I am soooo up-set! I have sleep apnea and probably pre-diabetic. They say I must wait 2 more years............................ I am going to fight this!
  6. Lookinup2010- I have UHC, but I live in Texas. I am waiting approval as well. They told me it should be two weeks. I am soooo nervouse. I have not had a sleep study, but I know I have sleep apnia. Good Luck!
  7. Pennie~ Congratulations to you! Keep up the good work...
  8. Thank's so much for the replys! Cajun, What Protein Powder do you use? Thanks,
  9. Good Morning! Yesterday, I met with the Nutritionist. There were 5 of us in our group and all asked some really good questions. I feel like I knew most of what she was saying, however she put into perspective the Pre-Opt and Post-Opt better for me. My questions to you is.............. Did your clinic try to sell you their Protein Powder, Vitamin Starter Kit, and Vitamins? Is this standard procedure? Did you buy from them? Did you go to GNC or another health store to purchase? I am interested to know. Thanks!!
  10. WOW! I am so happy for all you February sleevers!:confused1: Best of luck and I look forward to reading your success stories.
  11. Good Morning! I am going for my surgical consultation next week on the 11th. I am beginning to worry that for some reason my insurance will deny me....I have called them for approval twice, and they said yes, it is approved. The 3 criterias that I must meet are....1.) BMI over 40 - I have a 40.7. 2.) Must be over the age of 21 - I am 38. 3.) Must have 5 years proven weight history. - I have 3 documented with a 40 BMI, however they other two are not. I was on diet pills and had lost some weight.... BUT....I do believe I have sleep apnea. Has anyone else been in this situation and still gotten coverage? I want to have this surgery so much. Margo
  12. That is fantastic! My Mom was a severe diabetic and I am afraid if I stay on the track I am on I will become one too. I have an appointment on February 11th for my surgical consultation. I cannot wait! How was you pain level after surgery? How are you doing with cravings? Do you feel full all the time? Margo
  13. For those who are a couple of week out and those who have already met goal weight, please tell me what you eat. Like Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. Are you really that hungry? Do you ever have something special? How do you eat to maintain? I have lost many times and every time it come back, plus 5-10 # more. I know how to lose, however, if I have one slip up, that it....I eat, eat, eat. My fear is not being able to maintain my weight once I achieve my goal. Did you have fears of that before VSG? Margo
  14. Cajun, I am having surgery in Houston, Texas. I go faithfully for my well-woman visit yearly. However, I have never really needed a PCP. For the occasional major sinus infection, I go to a quick serve doc. I will call my OB/GYN and ask for recommendation for a PCP. Margo Where do you live in Louisiana? We live about 20 minutes from the State line, in Beaumont.
  15. Thanks for the response and information! I am getting more and more excited. I do not have a "Primary Care Physician", so I hope I do not have any problems with that. Margo
  16. Hello everyone! I have learned so much from this site... I went to the ititial seminar at The Davis Clinic last July. I quickly found out that my insurance (UHC) did not cover VSG. I was disappointed! Since the new year has come, I have been thinking again about the surgery. I happened to look on this site and founf out that UHC is now coovering the VSG....YEA!!!! I called my insurance and they said YES! So, i followed the instructions from my seminar packet and I got a call back this afternoon for my consultation with the surgeon. It will not be until February 11th, that is the soonest... Doen anyone know, once the consulation with the surgeon has been done, how long does it usually take to have Nutrition, Psychological, and Cardiac evaluations? I know all Dr.'s are different, just wanted to get an idea of how long the process was for you! I am excited and nervouse at the same time!:thumbup1: Margo
  17. I would like some information on Surgeons on the Beaumont/Houston Texas area that anyone might recommend. Margoboo
  18. Hello!! I have been doing some reasearch and was wondering if anyone had any luck with United Healthcare Insurance. I also would like some information on how to go about seeing if I am a covered candidate for VSG. Thanks, Margoboo
  19. Can anyone help me with an appeal letter. I was denied by UHC because I do not have a 5 year history beign at least 40 BMI. However, my records show that when I was at a lower weight I was on Adipex Rx diet pills. It clearly shows yo-yo dieting. I am 5'2" and weight 235#. I snore terribly, have joint pain from weight and have been fighting this for a long, long time. I appreciate any advise you could give!! Margo
  20. I am so happy for you that everything went well. I am to awaiting surgery on June 25th!!! I have had to put it off due to DS Birthday, T-Ball and Summer Vacation that was already planned. I am looking forward to my band date!!
  21. Thank for your responses. I have schedule my surgery for the end of June. I was worried about pain, then diet requirements then. I also worried a little about the "revenge" that alot of people get in Mexico. I believe I have most of the anxieties that everyone else has by reading this site. I hope with my hard work that this will be a good choice for me. I know it will not come easy, however once it comes off, it will be easier to maintain, which is the worst for me. I have full support from my Dh and I have been looking and researching about 3 months. Thanks again everyone!! Margo
  22. Hello! I have been approved and I think I have decided to have the LB surgery. I am going on vacation to Mexico with my DH and DS June 9th-15th. The soonest date I can get my LB is May 16th. Is this too close to flying to Mexico?? Will I be completely recovered? What if there are complications? Please give me your suggestions. Margo
  23. Thanks for the response. I weigh 223#'s. I am 5'4" tall. This is the heaviest I have ever been. I worry about the LB because I am easy to vomit (brushing teeth, etc..) I gag easily and this scares me because of slippage. I also would like the convience of not having to have fills....
  24. I received a letter from my insurance and a call from my Doctor's Office that I have been approved for weight loss surgery. However, I would rather have a sleeve that a lapband. Have any of you felt this way? What did you do? I do not think my insurance will cover the sleeve, only the lapband......
