  1. so maybe you all can help me. I had my band surgery 9 months ago, in the last few weeks I have been expierencing sharp pains on the right side under my ribs, and feeling of bloating there, not such bad pain that will bring you too your knees, but very uncomfortable. Then it will go away for a few days and come back. I have talked to the dr. and they said i probably need an ultrasound to determine if its the gallbladder, but I dont want to because I am Sooo close to goal and if I have to be unfilled and have surgery I'm afraid it will set me back. So anyone that has expierenced it before after banding, is that what it felt like and how did it slow your progress. Thanks guys.
  2. Great pics Barbara!!! Congrats Momma on your 5lbs! Whahoo, everyone is doing great!
  3. The twist stuff does work. I am taking a turbo jam kick boxing class, and it has a lot of the twisting stuff, and my upper part dropped 5in in 1 month from it. even though the scale only dropped 2lbs. But toning those muscles underneath has to happen for it starts dropping away. Also remember lots of water because you body needs lots of water to let go and not store those fat cells.
  4. Thanks Everyone, Have a great Easter weekend!
  5. I am 5'5 (message to short)
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys! We do ROCK! Barabara feel free to use it in your personal scrapbook. I scrapbook too and it will go in mine. The only other thing i have written in the past 10 years has been one about my beautiful little girl. I probably won't post it here because it would probably make you all cry if you have kids. On a personal note: The scale moved AGAIN!!!WHAHOO!! I am actually wearing a very comfortable pair of size 8 jeans, I don't EVER remember being that size. I so want to reach goal by our bandaversary(sp?). I hope each of you have a wonderful Easter, as we celebrate our risen Saviour.
  7. Thank you all for the feedback, it has been at least 10 years since I have written anything. I used to do it so regularly but just don't anymore. I titled it my journey only because I would never feel comfortable speaking for anyone else when not everyone may feel the same as I do. I do however feel good that I have been able to capture what others may feel too. I don't know what sparked me to write this, I guess I felt as though by doing it, it may help other's understand what I have gone through in the last 9 months. Thats the reason why I wanted to post it here, because you all do understand and i knew ya'll would tell me what you really think. I am happy to be a part of this forum, and happy for the life my band has given me. Thanks again everyone.
  8. Momma and Lisa thank for your kind words. I'm glad yu guys liked it. Momma, there are a couple of us June bandster's in the big town of RC. Thats cool your so close. Maybe we need to have a bandster dinner get together for us guys on this side of the world!!
  9. Please go to this link and tell me what you all thin k. I value all of yur opinions. It has been years since I wrote anything but the subject is near and dear to us all. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/need-honest-feedback-t32826.html tell me how you feel!!! thanks,
  10. My Journey My weight loss has been a journey, One I never imagined would succeed. After so many years it is so hard, To distinguish between a want, and a need. We need food for survival, But we want it for all the wrong reasons. We use it to Celebrate anything, Even the changing of the seasons. Many do not understand, The struggles that we face. Discrimination is running rampant, It’s not always about race. We are so much harder on ourselves, Than anyone else could every think about being. Cause every day in the mirror, It’s our own body we are seeing. There came a time to make a choice, To live or just stop breathing. I had to admit I needed help, But the path would not be easy. Some would say I took the easy way out, Having surgery is not the answer. But those people have never walked a mile in my shoes, Being fat is like a cancer. Having this band inside of me, Is the tool that gives me hope. Some days it really tests me, And I wonder if it’s friend or foe. It has given me the start I needed, It challenges me everyday I’ve worked hard for every pound I’ve lost, For me it was the WAY! My life is so much better, And it gets brighter every day. This journey has taught me oh so much, And I Praise God every time I weigh. So if you have this choice to make, And you’re not quite sure what to do. Don’t worry about what others say, Search your heart and make the choice for you! written by: Regina (rroswelltx)
  11. Thanks for all the congrats guys. Doesn't seem like I will ever hit goal, I have been in the 160's forever (since Christmas), but just in the last 2 weeks I have gone down another pants size, now wearing an 8 or 10! Doesn't seem possible. I guess the scale hasn't been moving because i am turning fat into muscle and toning up. I would just love to see the 150's, I haven't seen them since probably junior high, or maybe before that. But thanks for all your support guys, you all ROCK!!!!
  12. I was at 255 when my process started, and 246 when I started pre-op diet, I was 226 day of surgery. I lost 20lbs on the south beach induction phase for my pre-op diet, that is what my dr. recommends.
  13. Hey guys I thought I would share something from a friend who has lost a bunch of weight. She had really bad batwings (like me), she found that if she took a medicine ball and held it with both hands behind her back for 3 minutes at a time (in the air not against your butt) it reduced them, matter of fact she hardly has any batwings left!!!! Gonna have to try it, I bet it will be the longest 3 minutes of my life!!!!
  14. It probably means that they will approve on a case by case basis depending on if you have any co-morbilities. Aetna paid for mine.
  15. Ok guys now I have a new one but it is completely different, its not about what is said but about what isn't said. I have been married to my DH for 7 1/2 years, I have been overweight the whole time and he is also very overweight. I do NOT say anything to him about his weight but he is very insecure about it. Here is the problem: I have lost 93lbs, and EVERYONE except him tells me I look wonderful. He NEVER tells me. I have told him that everyone in the world can tell me how good I look but none of it even compares to hearing it from HIM. He told me he would keep that in mind but he still hasn't ever told me! It kills me but I don't know what to do. Any advice. So it's not only what people say that hurts, sometimes it's what they don't say!!!
  16. My problem is every time I go the the bathroom during a meal my hubby claims I am getting sick, when I'm not I just have to PEE!!!!! He claimes I PB all the time and I really don't. Don't they realize I had to go the the bathroom for regular reason's long before banding!!!! Its frustrating...
  17. Poodles, I won't tell anyone you've become a wino, I'll just have my son spread it around AHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regina
  18. Hey guys there is something to what barb's doc is saying, I find things go down soooo much better if I don't site and eat, I leave my plate in the kitchen and take a bite and walk around doing things and chew the heck out of it. Are schedules are so busy we dont have many family sit down meals anyway. But it keps me eating slower. Poodles, I know how hard it is for you to get into the fill cnter with school, so this time works on finding things that work, wine, eating much slower etc. But if you need it, you need it ,if things still aren't working.
  19. poodles have a glass of red wine before you get an unfill, it worked for you b4...
  20. I did talk to my doctor and he said the reason for me not to be able to eat yogurt and such is because it is cold. As far as like mashed potatoes etc, that when you are filled properly that stuff will not go down well either. Thats why they tell us when we are on regular foods to stay away from rice, potatoes etc. I can eat meat fine, so I guess I should just stick with that. But I dont eat breakfast anymore, i just can't. So I guess all my weirdness right now, is just the proper fill amount that I haven't expierenced before. Now if I could just STOP drinking starbucks carmel latte every morning I would probably be dropping faster, but since I don't have breakfast I started substituting and that's not good!!! Have a great day everyone!
  21. Ok guys I have a really strange phenomenom (sp?) going on with my band, I can eat meat just fine, but I cannot eat yogurt, mashed pot. , or soft foods. Now is that weird or what?? Even in the evening. But I haven't had a problem with any meats so I can't be overfilled. This is so weird!!!!
  22. Good morning everyone, Sorry I haven't posted in a while, its been extremely busy arounf here. Sounds like everyone is hanging in there. I am doing well, the scale finally has shown me a new number for the past 3 days in a row, so i think I can finally claim it, 163.5, whahoo!!! Finally going down again. I have been excersising a lot with my turbo jam kick boxing and now weather is nice I have been riding my bike. I had to go to the consignment shop and get me some shorts and capri's because I had none that fit me from last summer. I am wearing mostly a size 10 now. I still can't believe that last year at this time I was wearing a size 24, what a difference this band has made in my life. Melissa, good luck on the move and check in when you can. toodles!!!
  23. Poodles, only you know the mental state of your sister and what her life is like, how you guys have interacted with eachother in the past. If you think long and hard and look at those facts you probably already know your answer. You know the potential of issue's arising. I had to have a hysterectomy after 1 child, and it was hard. But now having my DH son living with us has cured me of that. I love both of them but the constant fighting and picking gets annoying. And don't you deal with that all day already with your job? LOL. I personally don't think it's a good idea, but as your friend I would be here to support you either way. You should at least check into an oversea's adoption like other's have suggested, then you would also get the satisfaction of knowing that you gave a child a great life that may not have had one. You have so much on your plate right now, try not to stress too much over this.
  24. I am soooo happy for you, see it goes to show you when you take your mind off it and put it on other things, it all works out! CONGRATS!!!!!:clap2: :first:
  25. No I wasn't yelling, I was trying to be motivational for all of us. Was trying to use explaination points for excitment, LOL kinda like a motivational speaker. I know it gets lost in typing. Lisa I haven't replied on the friend issue because I know exactly how you feel but haven't any advice. I also have a good friend that won't SEE me anymore. She will talk to me but not see me. She had her stomache stapled about 1 1/2 years ago and hasn't done well. She has admitted to me that when she see's me she gets depressed so that is why she don't want to see me. It hurts!!!! I don't know what to do about it, I have tried talking to her, but she just cn't get past her own self conscious. Good luck with it. I know it's hard. Please don't stop posting, you need support, and we need you!!!!!!!!!!
