I was scheduled to have surgery on April 30th. However, I have a staf infection on my stomach and the surgery has to be cancelled for now. This isn't the first time I had this. I was hospitalized in January for MRSA, and since then it has come back 2 times. The nurse where I go says I shouldn't have the surgery right now because the band can get infected too. Now I am scared to have the surgery at all because this infection seems to keep coming back. Also, I know someone who had a hernia surgery and got MRSA and it keeps coming back and its really bad. I don't want to end up like this. Right now my head is going crazy. I go to see my regular doctor tomorrow about the infection so I guess I will see what she says. I have lost almost 30 pounds on my own since March and now wonder if I should do this. Has anyone else had MRSA and still had the surgery?

I just want you to know that you are not alone with this emotional rollercoaster! My surgery is set for April 30 and as the days get closer I get more and more anxious, nervous, and frustrated. I am also afraid of how life is going to be after the surgery. I just keep thinking about the skinny person inside who will be free again after all is done and that gets me through these emotions. I think I am driving my husband crazy with all my emotions :crying:. Good luck to you!

Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum and I have a question. Yesterday I had my first consulation with a surgeon that would perform the LapBand surgery. He told me that based on my BMI which is about 60 that gastric bypass would work better and that the success rate of the LapBand for someone of my size isn't high. I really don't want to have gastric bypass. Has anyone had good success from the lapband with a BMI around mine? Please help!!! Thanks, Keysha

I had the same problem yesterday when I saw the surgeon for the first time. He said he would do the lapband but it probably wouldn't work for me. I really DON'T want to do the gastric bypass. I'm thinking I am going to go with my gut feelings and stick with the lapband and if it doesn't work then thats ok.
